What was the rarest lt500/250r ever made?
Was there any special editions made?
Chromezilla is one of them!!!
Production or aftermarket?
I don't think Suzuki did much in the way of special editions.
Only heard of a single gammazilla, but it started out as a stock lt500.
Either is fine!
I thought I heard of some sort of special built one's but I cant for the life of me remember what It was called!
Not sure if those guys are poking fun with the chromezilla thing ha ha
from what I know chromezilla was made to promote the zilla in the late 80's its all chromed out from suzuki. grkguy has one of them maybe he will post you up a pic. No we arent poking fun at you............not this time anyway
Awww my bad!
Sorry guys!
Tjose things are bound to be worth a small fortune no?
If were talking aftermarket.. The jim putnam framed lt250s from the early 90s were very rare. I think only 2 or 3 were made for derek hamilton to race the mickeys.
They were the first zps type setup, built years before laeger and roll started doing zps for the hondas.
Any google search for the chromezilla or the jim putnam comes up with nothing!Any one got pictures of these?
I have not been able to find any pics of the putnam frame lt 250s either. The old site had a scanned article on one from a 1994 issue of 3&4 wheel action. I remember the origional article. It had modified kx500 shocks all around. The front geometry of the frame was changed to a narrow front end with long a arms.
The bike was supposed to have around 12 inches of travel unloaded but it had tons of sag to sit at a normal low mx ride height. State of the art in the early 90s, commonplace today on mx tracks.
I've only seen two chrome zilla frames, grk's is factory and I saw another for sale but can't say if it's factory.
The one for sale was around 6k if I remember...
The aftermarket frames are pretty rare but not impossible to find.
I've even seen an independent rear suspension on a 250, guy was a member on the old forum.

You asked for the rarest, do you really think Google would have pictures of such mythical bikes?
Exactly!!!
I think I saw Greek's chromezilla at Silver Lake. I took a picture of it but it slapped the camera out of my hands and destroyed it.
Grks chromezilla was at silver lk this year 414. so you are thinking of the right one
Here is the Putnam built LT250
There was another lt250r front end with aluminum link/pivoting arms w/ multiple mounting holes & rods with heims, from around the same time. It was an stadium/mx racer.
^^^ that Zilla always gives me wood
John, I remember you had the story on the other site, but how did you come across this and end up w/ it? And what did it run ya if you don't mind me asking??? Just curious......
yeah i got 2 dirt wheels mag here with them tearing apart bike and sending it to the chrome shop.and another with it on the cover.
i got the bike from ebay, it was in cali, i think i paid 5g for it, but it come with a ton of parts most of them still in oe boxes, the only thing
that i dont have is the seat and the silencer. but i dont need that stuff cause i dont plan on putting it back to the way it was. i ride it around house
and we take it to the dunes for a ride or 2 every year. in a way its just a blinged out bike. lol
thanks for asking
How do you know it was one from the factory?
Im not saying its not,Would just be a hard thing to prove!
cause the serial number on the frame. and everything else matches the artical in the dirt wheels.
