ODI Lock on Grip Question for Twist Throttle Conversions
« on: January 22, 2013, 02:49:19 pm »
Can I run a ODF lock on grip with a twist throttle conversion on my Zilla?  I have the old Gunner Gasser twist throttle which is just like the Motion pro turbo.  I want to run the ODI lock on Rogue grip.  I like the lock on and I like the looks of the silver ring at the end.

Problem.. the atv grips are not going to fit the throttlee side with the larger throttle tube.  The mx style grips have built in throttle tubes and are machine specific so i dont know which if any would fit my twist housing.

What would work for me?  Is anyone running the ODI lock on grips with a twist throttle.  If so, how did you do it?

I have this set up.

Odi's lock on twist throttle kit comes with a "interchangeable" cantilever you can switch out to fit in your housing.  They sent me a twist throttle lock on kit but it did not work because I run the magura 1/4 twist and the kit didn't have a cam that fit my Magura housing nor did it have the same pitch.  They might have a set up for the motion pro turbo twist, you'll have to call them on that one.

Since they did not have a cam that fit my housing I went with a ATV single ply grip wired on because the MX single plys are shorter that the throttle tube and you come up short even though they have a full doughnut and the ATV's only have a 3/4 to accommodate a thumb throttle.

Good luck

Mitch
It is not letting me send you a PM--keeps telling me sesion expired log out and on again..tried twice no luck so i will post here.

I called odi..rep said they dont have a lock on that will slide over the larger throttle tube and they dont have a specific mx one that will work with my gunner gaser/motion pro turbo housing.

Those you sent a picture of look nice.  Are they Lock ons..or is it a decorative end on a glue on?  If they are lock ons how do you get it to slip over the throttle tube?  Tell me more about how you got it to work. I asume you have a twist throttle.
How much you selling them for?

They have MX grips (Lock On only left side) I ran them on my DS650, the end caps are aluminum and slide in and tighten up to be locked.

OK Im missing something or not understanding mitch..  My understanding is the atv grips are too small to fit my larger throttle tube oan the right side.  My understanding is the mx grips are machine specific and that the throttle tube is part of the grip but again they are machine specific.  They do0 not have a mx grip with a throttle tube to fit my turbo housing.

so what set up do i need to fit my quad. Im looking for either a grip with a throttle tube to fit my twist assembly or a grip to slide over my existing throttle tube.  I want the cool looking metal end rings.  I would prefer lockons on both grips but that is not necessary.
