Thanks for the info lt80,  I'll have many more questions.

From what i can tell, the rear axle and engine/swinger (is this called the king bearing?) bearing are completely toast.  By that i mean dust.  Doesnt look like they've ever been changed.  Im in the process of taking it apart to repaint and rebuild. Couple of questions:

  • It did not come with a fan or fan cover, i see there is a new version of the fan cover 40B20 with the same part number, will the newest version fit since they have the same part#?
  • I've yet to verify, but was told the CDI/coil is dead.  up until 96 they were a combo unit.  Should i up grade to the 97+ where the cdi and coil are separate?
  • I see what you mean about the foot pegs... What a terrible design.  You literally have to pull the motor to remove them.  You mentioned a piece to bolt too, do you sell this setup?

Ill have many more questions as i dig into this.  Weather did a 180 and will put the project on hold for awhile.
