So I checked the stator and LH crankshaft oil seal. The new seal is right where I put it. Seals tight and doesn't appear to have any blow by. The LH seal seems to be a pretty common issue. I had one blown on my zilla and another lt50 I worked on. What are the chances it could be a RH seal? Seams like the bearing would keep in place? Other than not starting, would there be any signs it was the other seal. I have not pulled the clutch cover yet and want to know what to look for. It appears the case has to be split to replace the RH oil seal.
I choked it again by placing my hand over the carb inlet. This time when I pulled the plug it did not appear to be wet. Maybe it was residual gas before? I can feel a slight vacuum when my hand is covering the end and I pull the starter cord. I am getting a stronger gas smell, but the plug is not appearing to be wet now. I pulled the plug and put my finger over the hole and pulled the cord. It has strong compression, but when I pull my finger away after several pulls it is not even damp with fuel.
I am chasing two separate issues with no real results from either. I also don't like throwing money at a bike without some idea it will solve the problem! Wish I had spare carb to try!! I tried another coil and there was no change in conditions.
What all would I need to seal off on this little motor to do a leak test? That should tell me if I have a blown seal right? or at least an air leak. Not sure how you would do a leak test on one of these.....
