Weap Hole - Parts I may need?
« on: December 08, 2014, 02:46:12 pm »
3 days of Glamis riding and I have some concerns about some weap hole dripping.

When it was hot I notices a few drops. My temp. gauge (TTO mounted in the hose right above the exhaust) went as high as 206 with hard riding, then back down to the 185 range with not so hard riding. Actaully got up to 245 degrees after turning the bike off at 206. I am wondering if my mounting placement isn't ideal.....
On the way back from Dunes Diner going constantly 4th or 5th for 20+ miles I notices more than just a few drips. It was wet around the weap hole but the overflow bottle didn't seem to move down at all.

So since the bike is stuck out there until January 5th, when I go back for an entire week, I really want to make sure I have anything I need to replace whatever the issue could be (Or maybe it isn't an issue?)

Hoping one of you experts has had this issue before. I don't really want to be changing out the water pump out there but at least I'll have guys with me that have done it before.

The leak is sometimes caused by a loose water pump impeller bolt or the rubber faced washer under the impeller bolt needs replacing.

Could be nothing or a number of things.

I've seen loose water pump bolts eat a hole in the WP cover.

I'd take an OEM seal kit, the rubberized washer, and an extra impeller bolt, an extra impeller & cover if you have one or both.  Never hurts to have extra parts.

You could also just have crap in the coolant and it's stuck/blocking the line.  You could be running it wide open for too long  could be riding with the wind, etc...

Many 500s have stuck a piston making the run to duners diner on the sand highway,  wide open constant throttle is not good for 500s for long periods of time.
