New quadzilla owner, need help with top end measurement

Hello All, Just bought my first quadzilla ever. I have owned plenty of other quads but nothing like this. Compression test was reading 90 so I know its time for a top end. For some reason when I measure my cylinder and piston is comes out to 84mm... i know stock is 86 so i am a little lost. Thank you

Trying to post pictures of the piston and cylinder, but it says the image is to large.

I fixed it for you.

About the pics, you need to measure the bore, not the piston.

Not sure exactly how your calipers work or if they're calibrated but if you read the the zero 0 line on the mm side, it reads 86mm.

Now 86mm converts to 3.39 inches (86/25.4mm = 3.39")

Also if the piston is a Weiseco the diameter should be laser stamped right near the center of the crown.

You can order a set of 9 inch digital calipers from Harbor Freight for $10 on sale and they switch back and forth with the push of a button.  They'll will save a you a lot of headache.

Your bore oversize can be determined by using  dial, vernier or digital calipers.  They cannot be used to measure the condition of the bore because they will not reach the areas that experience the majority of the ware.  These areas of high ware can be reached with a bore gauge, an inside micrometer, or telescoping gauge.

Calipers are generally used for quick measurements not requiring accuracies less than a couple of thou.  Because some calipers have .0005" increments, does not mean they are actually giving you an absolute dimension that could be traced to a standard

Ive used this caliper before for blaster, and honda 4 stroke cylinders and it gave me a right on measurement. I will have to look into the digital one. So you think this bore is stock 86mm?

Digital calipers are not any more accurate that the verniers calipers pictured,  Digital calipers are just easier to read and usually need a battery every time you go to use them. 


The diameter of your bore at the top of the cylinder according to your calipers is 86.1mm.  Now measure the diameter of the bore 1", 2" and 3" below the point where you are currently taking the measurement in the above picture to get a accurate condition of the bore.   It looks like there is a lot of rust in the bore.  What is the diameter of the bore going to be when the rust is removed?
