I have heard that the clutch side pocket wears out faster than the stator side?  <1>

I have a set of cases where the clutch side has a insert and the stator side is tight still.
Ain't ever seen it......but I have heard it.

i would say thats the stock cast in sleeve, with the aluminum sanded away.  its all galled up like the stock set i have.

when cases have inserts installed, don't both have to be done at the same time?  thought they were line bored after?

The inserts you see are the original.  These cases do not appear to have been re-sleeved.

What exactly causes those 'marks' in that case half?

The smooth surface on the bearing, detonation, severe clutch abuse... ???

The bearings wobble in the bearing pockets when the crank flexes.  After they wobble a bazillion times the outside of the bearing and the bearing pocket become pitted from the micro-welding that occurs while wobbling.
