Monitoring return temp is ok - you are looking for a average normal operating temp and also if its ABOVE or BELOW normal so you can take action.

I agree the outlet temp is great but its hard to package on the Zilla. I am going to run one in the return line where I can easily look down and see when out roosting and pulling wheelies.
Ain't ever seen it......but I have heard it.
