Broken sleeve skirt.. Still usable?
« on: November 13, 2012, 10:11:41 am »
Just got a 87mm stock cylinder I got from CL. Opened it up to find 1 of the small sleeve tabs on bottom was broken. I have called him and left a message. Doubt there was insurance. But my question is, can you still use it? I know the piston doesn't travel that far down. Thanks

Who is CL? Wow I would be upset, was this a packing error?

Tell me and save me the trouble. It was going to be a core for a ported cylinder for a builder

I have seen motors run with a broken sleeve, but it will cause premature piston wear & I doubt a builder would take it in as a useable core.

It can be salvaged. All it needs is to be re-sleeved. The builder should be able to take care of that for you for a little extra coin.
