ya thats about rite, I dont know if I would SAND anything maybe a little scotch brite or a brass tooth brush. One pass with a piece of 400-600 grit sand paper is probably ok to promote adhesion but you can take a lot of material fast with paper or scotch brite if not extremly careful.
