Frank you're much better off with a Cometic AFM and 3bond 1211.

You can order Copper or AFM from Cometic or you can order AFM from Mitch here on the site and I'm sure he'll work with you on shipping it to Germany

Why are you considering going to the unreliable and problematic copper head gasket?????

The copper gasket is really just a metal spacer.  It is the type of glue that is put on both sides of the metal spacer that makes it seal or NOT seal.  Copper is not soft enough to be a good gasket material when sandwiched between two soft aluminum surfaces.  A good gasket is usually (almost always) softer than the two surfaces that it is sandwiched between.

The old 76 Merc Sno Twisters used copper head gaskets and always seems to be seeping at some point.Even if the head and cylinder were machined true still seeped coolant.
Can,t fix stupid.:)

Do you have the small or large reed cylinder, ( 6 or 7 head stud cylinder)?

Is there anywhere to buy an already o-ringed head for my 87 500? Having trouble with my head gasket too. Sick of fooling with it.

Reviving a 2+ year old thread?  Nice......

But to answer your question, any machine shop can cut a groove in the head for an o-ring.

wouldn't they need to allow for gasket too, squish? What do they do, haunch out the dome? IDK.

any machine shop can cut a groove in the head for an o-ring.

Motoman is not quite correct, the o-ring groove needs to be cut a certain way along with the sealing surface as the o-ring does not actually do the sealing so much as providing a barrier.  Take it to someone who know's what their doing.

Send it to Carl (Ice racer) or somebody else who has a good rep.

You may need to get a thicker base gasket but a good builder will be able to tell you exactly what you'll need to do to fix all of it correctly before you even send it to them....Call Carl.
