After reading various air filter posts and seeing what luck Glamisrider had with AEM I finished my stock air box mod.
Using SB Designs clamp on kit, with an AEM 21-205BF DryFlow Air Filter, and an outerwear that I had to have them custom make (Yellow of course) I'm ready to install.
I just really hated the stock filter setup and actually got a bit of something past my foam filter on my first sand trip plus you gotta love NO OIL! I wanted to be able to clamp something on to assure nothing would be getting past the filter and put the lid back on later if I chose to. The filter has just a smidge of room on the bottom but isn't rubbing against the air box.
I'll see how it works in a couple weeks.

420 main 25 slow new plug chop but its so bumpy I didn't get the key off fast
looks lean?

H mmmmm well I won't be doing that today.
my issue is I cant kick start now.
stock foam with lid and 22.5 with 36500am main www as 1 kick
No lid 25 slow 420 main and I have to be pull started.
went down to the 22.5 slow and I got a couple kick starts but I jave a tow strap up front and am just being pull started as I am being a pain To the group.

Put the lid on and try it. Not sure with 500 but you jump a bunch of mains. Was the recommended to you with lid off and filter

Left the lid in Wisconsin.
used duct tape to close it along with 1" hole with the airbox mod whole.
started now via kick start. Ill know more tomorrow

Are you buying cheap aftermarket jets or oem? The information I'm reading here sounds pretty contradictory in nature. From what I have gathered it starts better with a 22.5 than a 25 without the lid, which would be leaner, however it starts better yet with the lid on (not the actual lid but taped up) than it does without the lid.... is this correct?

If so something is not quite right. 22.5 is leaner then 25. But yet no lid is leaner than taped on lid. If my interpretation is correct then leaner+richer starts good, leaner + leaner starts ok, but richer+leaner has to be pull started? Seems f'd up to me? Mine starts with choke, without choke, cold, hot, whatever it's not that fussy. Granted when it's cold it defiantly starts better with the choke, and when it's warm it starts better without, but I can go up or down two or three pilot jet sizes and not have a drastic effect on it starting.

Most mains are from suzuki dealer. Slow jets are from jetsrus. Not sure that really sure matter. Main issue is me I am sure. Gonna corner Glamisrider tomorrow though he doesn't know it!

Yeah let us know what adjustments were made....

Those two were part of the freight train crew last time I was there led by Alkyzilla, whose machine was so fast that one side of the handlebars broke off!!

I brought it to them with a 27.5 pilot and a 420 main. Ended up with a 22.5 out about 1/2 turn ( lost the 25 pilot in all my failed attempts changing things). I hadn't a clue what I was doing. They explained the slide adjustment to me and the air screw.
This is my first 2 stroke machine

Though I kicked it over easy before the airbox mod they explained the sweet spot to me. Back to a couple kicks.

oh yeah you gotta know the trick, or the sweet spot to start a zilla with ease.
the swwet spot will also help keep both of your legs the same size. lol

That was my 4th trip to Glamis. I'm in Wisconsin so no dunes here. We do go to Oklahoma every year and I'm hoping to hit St. Anthony Idaho this June. Been to St. Anthony once back in 2007. While Glamis is amazing and vast as hell the dunes in St. Anthony are just HUGE. There isn't a chock cherry in Glamis nor the kind of bowls that there are in St. Anthony either.
All other trips were on a 4 stroke.

Update:
Put on over 100 miles last weekend in northern Wisconsin. Was really happy I was able to put the lid back on my air box as there was over 2" of rain.
22.5 pilot 1 1/2 turns and a 360 main
