62 pilot seems really big compared to your main. -quick observation not knowing your elevation, air box setup, porting, if carb has been bored, etc.

I ran that carb a long time ago.  was bored to 41mm with an open airbox and mild porting at about 800ft and if i remember right i ran a 58/185.

You said it was doggy down low, my first hunch is you're rich on the pilot.

Will the bike idle?  A quick test to see if your pilot is the right size is by adjusting the air/fuel mixture screw. (NOT the big thumb screw with the spring on it.  It's a small flat head screw)  Set the air/fuel to about 2 turns out.  Start the bike and if it wont idle adjust it CW 1/4 turn a time.  If you get below 1 turn out and the motor still hasn't held an idle, your pilot is too large.  Put a size smaller pilot in and start the process over.
