was wondering if anyone has the marvin shaws, i can get a sett for a banshee that are the perfect lengths for cheap, are they trail ridable?

for trails i wouldnt use them, not saying you cant but they are primarily use for duners. drag atvs usually use the non coil over set up.

So what's a good all around shock? I was going to get Marvin coil overs, but you guys have kinda discouraged me. I will be riding ditches, bean fields after harvest, and trips to the dunes.

i have works triple rate on my hybrid and dual rate on my zilla and its 10x better than stock and a great all around. But then again i dont have the chedda to go with elka!!!

well I really want some fox floats, but I just got offered these marvins. mainly am lookin for light as possible, but would like to be able to ride off the track $:-\$

the coil overs i have worked great for duning and riding the ditches and stuff around here.

PEP shocks shocks hands down, in a league all their own. Shaws are great on the dunes, not sure how they would hold up to hard trail riding.

You should be ok with Shaws so long as you're not terribly worried about having an awesome suspension.
If stock shocks are ok for you, Shaws will be ok too...they just take some adjusting that's a bit more involved than a normal shock (unless you get the coilovers, and then you're adding weight).
If you're looking for an awesome suspension and light shocks, Fox is the only way to go.

does anybody know if the banshee fox floats will work? I called Jason at Honda east and he said he wasn't sure on what shocks would interchange, bc floats aren't available for the 500??

. ik they're close th the same length but no sure on if they would fit between the mounts

Anyone know how much the fox floats go for used ? say for a yfz450 or z400.

Yes they are. I had works dual rate on my hybrid. I then got a set of triple rate PEPs. Much much better.

The Zilla upper shock mount required a 1/2" approx spacer to run the trx450 front shocks

From what ive read/heard the elkas are the worst(not that there bad at all) but not as good as the other brands.

Elka uses off the shelf valving and spring rates for a particular weight and riding style. Thats why you can buy them from many vendors and get them quick. Most people looking to get the most out of their shocks wind up sending their Elkas away to get revalved or resprung.
Coming off of 25 year old stock shocks they will feel great. But if you have been riding more modern atvs recently, you will be happier with a more custom and better set up shock for YOU.
Also be totally honest about your riding and abilities with your shock builder. Ive seen guys go for an A level MX setup who rarely get more than 6 ft of air... The result is harsh shocks for 95% of the riding they actually do.
