so you run one? in a zilla with good compression to run race fuel and kickstart it? coming from a guy that has ran one, they suck. I would run stock. by the time you spend the $ on a brand new pvl. your not far off from a msd set up. with unlimited tuning for timing, rev limiter, a&b curve, launch limiter.
Yes I do, several actually. The one I use is a Motoplat which is an older version of PVL. Bought it for 87 Kawasaki Tecate-4. Had a backing plate machined and notched for counter balancer and put it on my old 86 LT250r which picked it up 3-4 tenths in 1/8th mile and now it's on my 500 engine. It's all personal preference and what you can make work for you in MX. Example: Some people run stabilizers, some people don't. I don't. I'm a physical/aggressive rider and I'll put the quad where i want it. Some people want low end stump pulling power and lug there quads, rarely use the clutch to prevent arm pump. While I like all of my quads to rev fast and I use the clutch and shifter as much as possible. It doesn't vary from 4 stroke to 2 stroke to me. I ride them all like they're underpowered kx125's and stay in the peak of the powerband, shift when needed, and use my body weight transfer to make it hook. For the mud or rainy conditions I have a 7.5oz custom machined flywheel weight to bolt to it if needed. That's just my setup though and it's what I prefer over the lazy rev, sluggish response. I also run hotter plugs.
