easiest way to get 4x144 front wheels on a zilla
« on: August 10, 2015, 05:17:21 pm »
I am planning on buying a set of hiper wheels.  I want to convert the zilla to a 4x144 front bolt pattern to be able to use that wheel on all my quads.  What is the EASIEST way to do this?  Currently, everything is stock on my 87 front end except for elka stage 3 shocks.  I saw some Z400 spindles and YFZ calipers, but I assume they make the quad wider in the front end? And do they take special a arms to get the steering angles correct?  I am going to buy the 4+1 offset wheels so that would narrow it up a little bit.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Iirc, ice racer or someone figured out a different bearing inner diameter so the z400 hubs work with no other mods.

I have the LTZ spindles, hubs, YFZ dual piston calipers with 4+1 wheels but with MetalTech +2 arms and the width measured outside tire to tire is 54", not sure if spindles added to that width. I used the spindles to improve the geometry and less weight, hubs for 144mm bolt circle for better wheel selection and less rotating mass, and the Back 4"+1" to reduce scrub radius and wanted the front track wider than the 52" rear width, for the dunes only anyways. Are the Metal Tech a arms custom for the 400 spindles or are they standard LT500r a arms with the 400 spindles on them?

Correct, ordered them for an 87 lt500 with LTZ400 spindles. Lee
