I know I haven't been on here long but you will find out I like to modify. This is my $250 bike I knew the suspension was dated so I decided to upgrade. I'm not completely done but it is going quite easy.
I'm using a set of Raptor 700 A Arms and spindles.
The lower mounts were retained on the frame. To make the lowers fit I had to trim the mounts on the lower arms. Not a big job.
I'm still working on the brackets for the upper arm but again I don't think it will be a big deal.
Let me know what you think.
How much wider is the modified front end? I'm a fan of long travel.
I've got a 85 lt250 &got the wrong length works shocks 15 1/4" so I gotta find some a arms... Raptor huh? Hmmm
I'll measure it when I get home but I think it's about +2. The shocks are kfx shocks 16.25" long. I hope to be finished by tonight.
They are stock Raptor 700. So far not a bad job.
How much higher is the frame ride height?
Sounds like a simple mod so far..
Definitely post up ur pics.
you can check out burgard for some long travel arms. he says to use yfz front shocks but for me they were way to short. i found some fox floats off my buddies ltr long travel work perfect i will have pics up here soon of it.
I thought I recently heard horror stories about burgard though...
I'm liking this very much curious to see if Carl thinks this is a good mod or not ? Then maybe I will do this and put some good aftermarket shocks on it.
I got one side TIG'd up last night.
The lower frame mounts are use but the top are modified.
I used the outer two upper outer mount tabs for a guide. But cut some tabs off of a Warrrior frame I had. These two tabs moved closer together to fit the new upper arm.
I used lonestars camber/caster settings for setup. 3-4 degrees camber 5-7 degrees caster.
Nice fluid movement.
Looking good. Nice contribution!

Everybody eats alot of popcorn around here. lol
What tie-rods are you going to use? I think that will be your biggest issue with them binding on you.
I think I'll make some custom Hiem joint ones.
We'll have to see how it works. Good deal so far I started out with that Idea and the 87 + frames are a lot different so I went another direction could lead into some good cheap available parts.
Love me some kettle corn!!
As far as te rods go, would they bind if you just add a couple inches to the existing ones?
Yfz/ raptor use a tapered stud. Be sure to get a tapered adapter for a him if you go that route. Early yfz tie rod ends are 10mm later models come 12 mm. Be sure to get the rite stuff just an FYI.
Looking good! Wish I would've seen this maybe before I pulled the trigger on a z400 front clip.
Looks good.I always thought trx450 a arms would work on87 to 92
They look like they would
Chuckie dont you have trx450r . You should try a mock of the a arm if you have time and you still have one. I thought you did but I might be wrong.
Well I'm down to tigging everything up.
I'm also going to have to find some tie rods but no big deal. It looks like plus two yfz might work. Will also need plus two brake lines.
Not much else except adjusting a few things.
Hope you all like it so far.

I sure do,, next time I'm at my uncles i'll see how they fit up next to my 88 frame,,, good thing i havent cut it in half yet lol
Thats cool Chuck let me know how it looks. Thanks also this quad looks sweet with this front end on it
Thanks
It is officially a roller again! Everything is tig'd up, I may make a few more gussets for the front end. But all in all I'm very pleased with it.
Not a real easy job but not impossible either, beats the hell out if stock setup!
