First of all, let me start by saying i am very limited on time to work on carbon fiber at the moment. But, However, i have found a way to streamline the build time on the upper radiator cover for the LT250. It is styled a bit from the aftermarket hood/upper cover combo. I will have a lower hood done and test fitted in probably a few weeks. Like i said time is pretty limited at the moment. The factory finish on the oem hoods takes way to much time to smooth out and prep. Heres a couple pix of the radiator cover. It is of a 4X4 pattern that allows me to hold the pattern a lot straighter in the lay up. Not sure on prices, or if i can even market it on the new site, maybe someone can chime in, i dont want to step on any toes lol. I know a lot of you want 500 stuff, but let me get this going and well move from here. Thanks. Glad to see a new site up. And yes, My phone camera sux i know. Robb

Ok, Thanks El Diablo. Im sure a lot of people know me from the old site. I have been building carbon fiber sprocket covers and case savers for the lt250/lt500's for a while now. I also build radiator shrouds, sprocket covers, battery box covers for the ltr's as well. I also do a lot of other things for other makes/models of bikes. Im a one man show. My website is:
www.thecarboncartel.comemail @ robbc@thecarboncartel.com
I am also a certified gm/nissan tech, master ase blah blah blah lol, yes i fix cars for a living along with working a side business, sometimes i find time to ride my toys. I was looking on here and there is no picture threads of the bikes? Anyways thanks for letting me show off my work here. Robb

Good looking stuff! How big of a sprocket can your lt500 case saver take?

Nice job! I was just talking about you guys. Hey can you do anything else with the colors like simple two tone/ third colour. Or perhaps the suzuki S in a third colour? Laser/cnc cut logos? or anything else in the works?

As far as the case saver goes, i know it will accomidate the factory 13t sprcket, i think a couple people have modified my savers to clear a 14t, The demensions on the case saver i build match the factory saver, so if the factory saver clears a 14 t then mine will. If not someone can send some pics, or possibly a template to me of the crankcase cover so i can see how much extra room i have and i could make one for you.

Please do rear brake levers witha smaller spindle shaft with bushings. Ours are heavy and have zero bushings. Everybody wants one of those. Functioning brake lever would be alot better than an aerodynamic hood.

how about clutch or stator covers for the 250, beadlock rings for dwt rears, mud plugs, rear brake stay would be cool too.

Sorry if i miss a few things here, having trouble quoting reply's
I can do a "s" logo in a third color, just would need to know the size and color, Getting ready to lay up a hood this week, As far as brake levers go, at the moment you are on your own lol, not trying to make lite of it, i just havent had time to rethink/redesign one, if i do, you guys will be the first to know. Stator covers might be a possibility in the future, clutch covers would have to be a "lay-over skin due to the machining involved to make the actual cover. Beadlock rings could be done, i would need a template, however they woulnd not be cheap due to the size of them to do in actual fiber, i beleive hyper does the carbon from a spun mat material, it is much cheaper for them to do it that way, again i would need a template. Mud plugs would be tough, they would have to actually bolt to the outside of the wheel. Carbon is not flexable enough to slip it inside the wheel, but yes it could be done as well. Steering stems, tie rods, i would rather not touch that at the moment, i can "sleeve" your tie rods and axles and re-inforce them tho. Rear brake stay could be done, i will build one for mine and get it on and test it on my next dune trip. Airbox delete bracket could be done, does anyone have a pic of one, i just run an open filter on the back of my carb as its a duner. Hope this sheds some light on a few things for everyone. Robb

I have a request. How about carbon fiber intake manifolds for larger carburetors like 44-54mm, and a carbon fiber inlet funnel for these carbs also (similar to the Fuel Customs ones). The hard rubber OEM pieces crack over time when it is streatched over these larger carbs even if they are ported & heated.

sweet let me know i'm in for one.

might be interested

I could send you one of mine to use to make a template.

let me know very interested

YES please, carbon fiber rear brake foot peddle. The Stock are a foot long in stamped steel with zero bearing/bushings. Just steel on Steel. It only can get worse with use. No way to fix it/ that I know of.
I Will send you mine now exept im in Ontario. If you cant make me one I will be PISSED OFF When I see carbon hoods and redundant covers!
Thats all I want for Christmas A new rear brake pedal. Ogh and One more thing maybe? INTAKE MANIFOLDS please.
PM me Please, I have alot of the parts off my bike now......

Ok I am thinking a little bigger. How costly would a set of trimmed front and rear fenders be ( no dumbo ears on front and rears slightly trimmed. I love that red or blue tone. Could you do the entire fenders?
Also in an axle or tie rod wrap how durable is this stuff. On an axle exposed to rocks will it scuff and chip and look like crap after a while. I have no experience with carbon fiber. Your stuff looks awsome!

Quadman, probably not a good choice for fenders.
Carbon fiber just isn't flexible enough to be a plastic replacement.
If it's a show quad or something that hardly sees any rough terrain, they'd probably hold up ok.
CF is pretty brittle, so if you accidentally kick the fender while trying to start the bike, you might damage the fender.
If you hit a jump wrong and part of your bum lands on the fender instead of the seat, you might damage the fender.
If you catch a twig or snag some brush on a trail, you might damage the fender.
If the tires kick up a decent size rock and it hits the fenders, you're probably going to have delamination.
Regular plastics bend and deform so they deflect a lot of that energy instead of absorbing it, that's why it's such a great material for fenders.
You don't see lightweight aluminum fenders either...they would be much lighter than current plastics but also a lot more delicate for the same reasons.
It's also not a good choice for axles for the same fact that it doesn't handle impact well, it'll delaminate and structural integrity suffers.
Not really any different than fiberglass except that it has a higher tensile strength, so whatever will damage fiberglass will damage CF in the same manner.
If you can't imagine something made of fiberglass standing up to typical use, then CF is probably not a good choice either.
BAC technologies is selling CF drag axles that are sheathed in aluminum and are slightly stronger and lighter than a comparable aluminum drag axle.
They use specialized tooling for the construction that I doubt Robb would have available, so if you're interested in something like that try BAC instead.
Notice there aren't any full length axles made of lightweight construction like aluminum or CF, that's because they're just not strong enough past that point.
As for tie rods and steering stem stuff, that's a safety consideration and it's probably more than what Robb wants to handle at the moment.
I heard that DC Motorsports has steering stems and tie rods made of CF, but I can't find a website to check their stuff.
A simple wrap won't really net you much of any gains other than looks, and if you're only interested in looks then there's a lot of CF decal stuff that simulates the look.
Meier sells simulated CF fenders, or at least they used to.
Lots of things can be built from CF to replace heavy components on our quads, but the tooling and design make it a more costly endeavor considering the small pool of customers.
I would venture a guess and say that whatever it would cost to build in titanium is a decent starting point for CF prices.
A lot of work goes into structural CF, a lot more than battery covers and hoods, because it has to be layered several times over, spun, sheathed or capped with traditional metals, and in some cases completely redesigned because CF has to be a lot thicker to provide the same strength and rigidity.
Plenty of things are possible with CF, it just takes plenty of money.

WestTexasKing, thanks for the info on CF. Yes, I like the look of C,F but I want functionality first looks 2nd.
Maier use to sell a white CF look fender but they dont anymore. I think they said I would have to order 5 or 10 sets for them to make another run.
Do 5 or 10 of you want white CF look maier fenders?

Well put Tex, You pretty much hit the nail on the head, one other thing is prices, as with the off road/atv market it seems people think carbon fiber parts should be cheaper since bikes/quads are not as expensive as say a high end supercar. However the process is very similar on how parts are built. Its pretty tough sometimes to make sense of why i work on building bike parts when i know i could profit much higher margins working on higher end vehicles. But bikes and quads are in my blood so here i am. Time does limit me on what i can do since i have a full time job as well as building carbon goodies. I did throw some "blem" parts up on ebay a few days back. There are about 5 lt500 sprocket covers and 1 lt250 sprocket cover if anyone is wanting one cheap. Thanks. Robb
