Bump steer mod?
« on: November 07, 2013, 09:14:11 pm »
Hey guys, can someone upload before&after pics of the bump steer mod? I know you are supposed to swap the two brackets which hold the tie rods but I am not sure about placement.

Also, here is my current set up (front right wheel), can anyone tell me if I already have either the bump steer mod or the camber mods done? I didn't see any washers under the lower ball joint, nor any "flats" to grind off...  :-\

You have neither mods done.

You see those tabs stick out the lower a-arm that the ball joint fits into? That's what you grind off then you add the camber shim into there. Or you get a set of Mitch's camber shims that fit into those slots still and WALLA!!!

The bump steer mod is where you take the steering horns off the spindles an put them on the opposite side. You wanna lower the tie rod end to where the tie rod is as parallel to the lower a-arm as possible (well is actually when the a-arms are completely level/flat across then you want all three, upper arm, lower arm and tie rod, to be parallel.

SOMEONE, was supposed to get me pictures of where the steering a horns actually go but they never did (EH JOHN, MOONPIE. IM CALLIN YOU OUT!)

Well, i'm glad there is room for improvement then; a cheap/free one at that! Just to make sure, this is one of the tabs you are talking about, right?

Yes Thats the tab, Just buy Mitchs in the store then you won't have to grind that off. The bump steer mod is easy. Just swap the steering arm the tie rod bolts to from 1 side to the other, instead of going up the bend should go down.
