1990 250r Rear shock
« on: April 22, 2018, 05:15:57 pm »
My rear shock had oil in the nitrogen reservoir. I wouldn't mind using another shock from another bike but how do you tell what would work? Or what would I need to rebuild the one I have.

You can measure the eye to eye length.  Although, the shock will still need to be re-valved for your bike.

Mine is an Elka off a 300ex. Impact soultions rebuilt it w proper size eye inserts and said the spring rate was good for a 175lb rider so not sure if they revalved anything or not. I know it got all new seals and a resi cap w a shorter hose to mount it in stock location. Hope this helps.

I have a Works Black Widow shock from a Raptor 700 on my 88'.  Had to make a bushing for it to mount correctly.

Thanks all.
The local shop here in town quoted me almost $250 for parts and labor. I ordered what I needed and rebuilt it myself after watching a few How-To's on YouTube.
