Suzuki ALT 50cc Trail Buddy ATC??? Anyone had one?
« on: September 04, 2015, 12:00:04 pm »
Yes I am well aware that it only has three wheels lol. I had to buy it though. It's awesome. Anyone got a good front fender and handlebars for it? I can't believe how small this thing is.

I've got one, and so does my brother. My kids both started out on it. They are super cool. Smallest production ATV ever made (real ATV, not including the electric power wheels from WalMart.) I've got the owners manual, and I think it's dry weight is listed as 86 lbs if I recall correctly.

The front fenders are worth quite a bit if you find one in one piece. You can actually get reproduction "Trail buddy" decals for it if you find one.

We used a fender for a JR50 dirtbike that had a fairly wide profile. Can't remember the year. Then we fabbed up our own mounting bracket and bolted it on. We also got a front number plate for the same bike. It was almost a direct snap on to the forks. Doesn't look as cool as the original Trail buddy fender, but it's way better than having nothing.

The rear fenders are the same as the LT50 which were made quite a bit longer (late 80's in the US, but another decade or so in Canada so you can still get the rear fender last time I checked.)

Luckily the LT50's were made in yellow and orange, so you can even get the correct yellow. Hold onto your seat if it's still original. The original ALT 50's said "50" in yellow on the seat. You don't see those often. It's more common to see seats from LT50's on them which were either black with yellow hollow lettered "SUZUKI", or blue with white hollow lettered "SUZUKI".

As for the handle bars, IIRC, the ATL 50 handle bars are welded to the triple clamp, so they are not meant to be replaced. However, if that weld breaks, you can grind it smooth and drill holes and use handlebars and clamps from an LT50. That's what we did on ours. Same exact bend as the originals, and you can adjust them forward/backward like normal handlebars unlike the stationary ALT50 bars.

Those things are great for pit bikes! They are great conversation pieces at the least.
