Other than Skully, who else is doing modifying LT250 frames hybrids for LT500 engines?
Can skully post pictures?
Been doing my own for a long time...bit different style with the lower bolt thru the frame rails like the 500. No backbone clearance issues. Tips the motor forward the same angle. Still requires a custom built pipe.
I've done a few, Done them both ways, first hybrid pipe from Ct was done with bolt through the frame. Next one I raised and used the oem lower mount so Q pipe would fit. Did a few since then with the lower mount in the 250 position. I tend to like this position as it gives the most consistent position. Spark plug clearance can be tight If not notched enough.
how are you guys doing the upper front shock mounts? (for running lt500 shocks)
the durablue 250 front lowering kits works for them
I have 3 of these i'm using now, | guess I haven't been exaxctly forthcoming with you guys..........I never understood why you have to deal with all the issues of the backbone and other fitment issues,. Cut out the right side frame tube, put in a straight section, lower bolt thru the frame like the 500 and good to go... If you want to run a head stay,?? mod up some top mounts. i don't believe there's a need in my book...but i'm a duner...100 HP.... Hall can build a pipe for you to fit this frame setup because I have several he has built for me..(You must extend the front end at least 3") and Metaltech can build you A-arms, Swingarms, and a whole Entire frame and suspension if you want go this route.. I have put alot of $$$ into figuring all this crap out.,

Pics pics and more pics required!!!
I'll line em up today and get some pictures on here.
DONT DO IT DALE......LETS RACE
I believe mike (500fanatic) will do it for you. He's in Southeast Kansas so it might be a better option for some of you guys that don't want to pay the shipping.
Here's a few quick shots of my always ongoing projects.....I really need to finish things up so I can get out and RACE with my buddy Serg. Ever since he got his Hall setup thats all he can think about
Two of these chassis are just for hillshooting.. The other is my latest shot at a light weight duner, my grandson is turning into quite the rider so it will be his next step up. I know the style of bike I build is not the setup most of you guys need. Riding in the sand is alot different than trails.
Metal tech makes the entire frame? Or just does the modification?
*Whew* Chubbed right up ...
Dale, how is the new rear suspension working out for you? Those are some outstanding builds!
Dale i am gonna send you some adoption papers this week, do me a favor and fill them out quickley
so i can get on the list for one of your bikes. thanks
i will also send a pre stamped envelope for you to mail it out.
Just got off the phone with Metal Tech, cost for LT250 85-85 frame mod to fit the LT500 is only $350.00 good deal!!
What the heck kind of setup are you using for the rear suspension?
only problem I see with alkyzillas is when you cut the wishbone out of frame what did you do to support what the wishbone was holding? all I had to do with mine is change that bottom bolt to where it was in the frame like the 500 and the rest was new motor mounts to the original 250 brackets real simple
The blue drag frame is a 87 and I'm using the wishbone for the front motor mounts,..front is moved out 6".... the silver drag frame with the motor in is a 86, front mounts just go down to the lower frame rails..front is moved out 3"....The backbone has been reinforced above the motor where the headstay would be after a crack developed there. I have ran this chassis for a long time with no other issues. The duner set up is a 86 frame with tubes installed for standard lt500 front motor mounts....front is moved out 4"
All the rear linkage is modeled after a Raptor, using a mix of 660 and 700 pieces. It gets the shock out of the way and so far has cured all the cracking and bending issues I was experiencing with long swingarms and all the leverage points being way up front in the Suzuki design. (I like to run hard through the whoops.....)
One of my 500 full frame duners has made 2 trips this season with the setup, been ridden very hard, and I'm VERY happy with it!
Of course it requires major frame mods to get the attachment points and new swingarms too.
.......good thing for me the guys at Metaltech are into "custom"

you mean into your ''wallet''. lol
Going thru some old stuff and came across this shot..goes well with this thread. This is the Hybrid look that I decided to go for, It uses the 500 fuel tank for extra capacity and plastics match the front end being moved forward. Weight is 330 lbs full of gas. This bike is apart now getting a makeover.
