Went and had the my DCS - 4 Pipe dynoed locally at DASA Racing in Riverside on my 87 and ended up very surprised how it ended up to the other dyno graphs, unfortunately I was also wanting to dyno my other 88 LT500 my top end had fractured cracks during a dyno run from another location, so that graph wont be done till some time in Feb with a fresh top end, I want to post both the 87 and 88 graphs soon.

As you can see I have been working on this side project for some time working on constant refinments.

These are Dyno Jet (5-3-12) in Orange County and a Mustang Dyno (11-20-12 - 11-29-12) to compare numbers.

Dyno Test 87LT500 11-20-12, The Spikey Curves At The Begining Of The Run Were Caused From Wheel Hop, that is why we "Re Ran" this Dyno Run on the 11-29-12 LISTED

are these 5th gear runs? close ratio or wide ratio trans?

Yes, the 4th and 5th gears were changed to the 88 gearing

Must have , I lost compression, the jetting was way off almost had for some reason a 168 ended up at 180, but damage was all ready done. Lucky it was just a piston that needed replacement.

Did you ever test this at Shearer Custom Pipes dyno? Or HPR?

This 87 LT500 w/DCS pipe was not tested at HPR or Sheares.
I am still willing to pay for the dynoing of a V-2 or an HPR pipe here in Riverside.

Mitch. This thread is about an 87 jug. Not an 88. I do know what your small reed did. I was asking what the pipe did with the 87 jug at Mats dyno.

My dyno testing is local due to the hourly rate of $75 hour and they are 10 mins away from my shop thats not bad to get your jetting tunned in.

person making pipes of the ones mentioned as of today is HPR.

Dyno Jet was taken 5/3/12 (See Date on the sheet) when I still owned the V-1.1.

Just got back a few pipes that were refined to the Version 4 design, the version 1 and 2 had small fit issues that I just wasnt going to put up with, this pipe is Dezsleds (Mike) pipe that was re done to Jig of Version 4, I am having 4 other pipes triple plated to be prettied up! and have 1 more raw pipe available.
I am sure Mike will chime in on the fit of this DCS-4 pipe vs hie DCS-2.

The earlier version ran great other than a couple clearance issues. The newest pipe went right on using the oem mounts/rubber isolators, no problems fitting it up. Stamped pipes look terrific but there's something about the cone design that looks sweet.

New motor, bored carb, new pipe.... Looking forward to scorching my shorts!

I see two of these pipes on Ebay right now, one raw and one plated. How much power improvement and where in the power band would these pipes have over the LRD pipe i am running now?

I only have had a fmf to compare power wise with the DCS pipe. The DCS pipe power comes on early, hits hard in the mid, and keeps pulling way up into the upper revs.

I never ran an LRD, maybe Mitch can answer your question better.

I dont have any Graphs on the LRD as of yet to compare, it is in the works. The DCS-4 was designed for:
Great Low End Punch (Special Head Pipe Design) Working to a massive midrange and a un believable top end power (over 2000 rpm) This pipe and Silencer will rip across the whole power band, see our graphs listed above.

The FMF is what came with my Zilla when i bought it. It has great low end grunt but from there the LRD out performs it by a lot. All i see about the LRD that it is old technology and that the new pipes are out performing it. By how much ? The top dogs want $800-- $1000 for there pipes i only paid $400 for my LRD. Am i really getting that much more power for twice , or more, the money? I am not a racer just a dune rider, but i do crave big power.

Personally I'd have the Pwk worked to a 41 or go to mikuni 42.5 and some V2 reeds before a pipe swap. Less $ as well....

Actually i just bought a new 41mm PWK working on the jetting to dial it in, waiting for parts. The V2, i am having trouble finding that, as i am running a small reed motor

My 41 Pwk is close on jet at 185m 52p and CEJ needle #6 slide if that helps any. I still need to get the slide up more with a longer stop screw but that's on the list to do someday...

Isn't Jerry making V2 set ups now?

Your jetting is the same i have , just need a different needle. If he has the V2 setup for the small reed motor i am in the market for one.
