Hey guys I'm a new member here. I literally brought this thing back from the dead. It was in pieces laying around 3 different garages. I switched from a 400ex to this LT500 and had no mechanical knowledge whatsoever about the internals. I have been riding since I was 9, but admittedly was a novice when it comes to the mechanical side. After a lot of help from other forums I know my way around this quad pretty damn good lol. I live in Ohio and do all trail riding / hill climbing so the goal for my build wasn't to be a 70+ HP duner but a tourquey monster of a trail machine. My set up is pretty basic and I want to have a very crisp, hard running quad that is very reliable.
As far as specs go I'm running the following:
1. 88mm piston
2. V3 reeds
3. Paul Turner pipe
4. Stock Mikuni carb
5. UNI foam filter with airbox closed and sealed (a lot of mud and water around here)
6. Billet thrust washers
7. Stock porting
8. Stock head
9. CBR Racing radiator (my favorite mod, I posted a pic)
Nothing crazy, but my motor holds air awesome. It only lost 1.5 lbs overnight going from PSI to 4.5 PSI via leakdown test. I literally just finished the motor it was bored and put back together. I haven't had a chance to properly jet it other than just running everything fat for the heat cycles. I live in a residential area and its really cold here right now and wanna wait until it warms up a bit so my jetting is a little more consistent. I'm definitely going to need some help with that endeavor once its time. I posted some pics and a link to a video of the first start up. Nice to meet ya'll and look forward to your help on any future issues lol!!!

Looking good sambone welcome to the best LT site on the web.
That is one hard to find radiator!
Sweet! Pwr made one but they are hard to find as well
good job on the build,
and your not to far from me, have you ever rode out wellsville,oh
we will have to get a ride one day this summer out there,
Hey man welcome to the madness!
I'm pretty sure your engine isn't supposed to lose any pressure from a leak down test, so you may wanna try and find where you lost that 1.5 pound from
Your quad looks sweet man!
Good job on the bike. You're most likely losing some air around the PV. It's a simple fix but you should be ok. 1.5psi over night is not bad.
Pinch the case vent tube and try the test again. That's where my cyl was losing pressure, the power valve seal needed to be doubled up
My p valve seal is already doubled, I had that one addressed already lol. It really may just be coming from somewhere minute in my tester. I built it myself. My motor was a leaky mess when I got it so I have literally addressed every possible leak site, even to the point of splitting the case and checking for cracks (as it looked like something grenaded in there in a past life). Both crank seals are brand new, p valve doubled, and more hours in leak down testing than I have spent riding it lol

I have not yet made it out to Wellsville but have probably watched enough youtube videos of it to last me a lifetime lol. I plan on going once the weather breaks with an older buddy of mine and his group. He's a veteran and knows his way around so I wanna hit it up with them so I kinda get a feel for it lol. Im pretty pumped. I would love to get together and go sometime as well!!!
lmk when you guys plan a ride, i know a few vets of the area also. oh and they love to climb

Haha ya that's how the guys I know are. I haven't met them all yet but my buddy Keith knows Preacher real well and his group. Idk if you know them or not but my friend Keith hasnt rode with them as much as he's older and all beat up now and goes less often. I cant wait to watch all those guys rip up the hills lol. I feel like I already know everybody with the amount of videos I have watched of them haha.
same group of guys if the preacher is there, lol
Wellsville isn't a state park like Perry is it?
Wellsville isn't a state park like Perry is it?
Hell no. Don't you need title and sticker for perry ? I need to find out as the group goes there a fair amount.
Yes per say but you also need same stuff for Wayne national and they didmt ask for either or even look at my bike last time I went.
Ya

. I'm not gonna drive all that way to find out there checking info that day though. Gonna file for lost title on one of the frames.
Im pretty sure its an actual license plate now and not a sticker anymore. I managed to get my LT titled, and I have a plate for it. I think perry is free, as long as your registration checks out.
Most places that require registration require insurance on the vehicle, I dont think thats the case with either perry or wayne right?
