Finally got a real ride on my zilla! Now some questions..
« on: August 25, 2013, 11:23:05 am »
So after 11 months, i put in a real 5 hour trail ride on my stock 87 zilla.  Did great,  bit a few issues/ questions now.
Im running stock everything except billet washers/ wiseco piston.  Currently jetted with a 420 main and needle on the 3rd clip. Airbox lid on and riding at 1700 ft.  Bike didnt quite pull on top like i wanted, figured it was rich on the main, no biggie. Better safe than sorry.
Got home, pulled the plug, and yep, rich.  I never run airbox lids normally. Im thinking just ripping this one off and seeing how she runs with the 420.
Anybody experimented with main jet sizing with box lid on/ off? All other variables the same?
Also my brakes are in great condition, but they suck for aggressive trail riding.
Is there any benifit to replacing the front master cylinder with a current quads and keeping the zilla calipers n such until i can redo the whole front end?

just bring a larger main or 2 with you next time out. take the lid off. warm it up and lit her rip. if its lean bump the main up. less restrictive amounts of incoming air will lean it out. but i dont know how much. i ran a bike with a k&n filter on it and was jetted for it. i went to a foam oiled filter and it was pig freaking rich. put the k&n back on and it was fine. but this was with alky.
