I'm out in Astoria.

So it's an 85 with modded frame to fit the 87 atac motor.  In the ad he said it was rebuilt by LRD and been a good bike since.  When I met him it was after work, he fired it up. Ran great, ran it around the parking lot... paid the man and came home.  He told me all it needed was fresh fluids as its been setting since last season.  It was parked pointing to the ceiling.

So I got it home, let it set over night and came to it after work the next day.  That's when I started seeing it..... The bullshit :|  All three exhaust holes were stripped out.  I was able to clean the threads a little and use some bolts/studs I had laying around to get it in there and tight. It's the wrong exhaust.  The holes in the pipe didn't line up with the head.  I do believe this was him, not the race shop.  I used my rat tail to file out the hole on the pipe and all is well.  Once she is due for a new top end I will properly drill all the holes out to the same size and re-tap them.

Onto the next problem. He said he only ran race gas so he didn't have to clean the carbs as much.  Ok I said...  (That maybe fine, but in my head I believe they should still be cleaned out now and then even after setting).  The carb was actually clean, however the float deals weren't even.  So I turned the gas on got a call, and came back and gas was all over the floor and some in the top end.  I pulled the carb, the plug, the pipe and kicked it over and blew it all out with a compressor. I also pointed the ass end to the ceiling best I could and drained the oil out the crank case best I could, I added some 2 stroke oil down in there so it will be lubed, then re-kicked it a bunch of times.  Pulled the carb apart and cleaned what little needed cleaned, then adjusted the floats...  Held it in my hand and hooked up the gas line, turned the gas on and sat there for five minutes.  Not a drop came out of the overflow, nor the bore itself. Success.  I then tipped the carb to the side and gas came out the overflow.  Held it upright a few minutes, no gas came out.  Sweet!

Threw her back on, she fired right up!!  Luckily he had drained the coolant and kept it inside.  As when I added coolant I saw a leak.  Wasn't coming from the radiator.... Wasn't coming from the water pump cover. It was coming out the clutch cover bolts....   Damn it :|

So I pulled the water pump cover and propeller.  It seems as tho a gasket had dried up and ripped apart. So, I ordered new OEM oil seal for the water pump, water pump seal too, water pump cover gasket, and new clutch cover gasket.  All OEM, might as well do it now and save from doing it alter right?

parts will be here next week.  Other than that, she fires up and sounds MEAN.  Great compression, great revs. Idles nice.  Can't wait to go ride it.

Came with 400 bucks worth of Dirt tires, full set of skat track haulers that are slightly used.  The rims are ITP and the higher end ones, the dirt rears were send in and converted to bead lock.  I basically paid for the rims and tires and got the bike for free haha.

Paid 1300 for the setup, with title!  Another 46 bucks in parts in the mail.  Can't wait for it to get here.  Unfortunately they aren't shipping until thursday so my next weekend ride at Sand lake is out of the question.  What a bummer.

Pics as promised.
