No I have not dyno run my bikes ever. Carl said that my trail bike should be around mid 40hp. Plenty for trail riding.

45hp in a 91 LT250R (325lbs dry weight, est 350lb wet weight) would be around 7.8lbs/hp.
A stock quadzilla at 51hp crank hp and dry weight of 392lb (est 420lb wet) would be around 8.2lb/hp

What about lbs. /  hp on a 250 with the 500 in it?  That's got to be the best ratio of the three!

A hybrid - 500 in a 250 chassis would be the best power to weight ratio of the three yes. Plus it has the best badfuckinass ratio of them all. I would really like to put a 500 in my ice quad chassis. Someday when funds allow I will. That would be the ultimate ice/ dirt track quad.

Depends, the lbs/hp will range so much depending on the power the 500 and what weight the hybrid was able to be shaved down too.

Lets say you have a 65hp zilla motor in a 360lb chassis, this is around 5.5lb/hp.

Let's say the Zilla motor is pumping out the most hp that can be achieved these days on a stock 250!  What would that come out to be?

What is the most a zilla motor can pump out?
Say 75hp-80hp?
One guy said his hybrid weights 330lbs (with a zilla gas tank which is bigger)

Lets say 345lbs wet weight (this can vary a lot depending on parts used)
75hp zilla motor isn't max, but a great runner.
4.6lbs/hp

Now look at 330lb wet weight, 80hp engine.
4.1lb/hp.


If you compare a 45lb lt250r (7.8lb/hp) vs a 65hp zilla (6.5lb/hp), the 250 can't compete.

Look at a banshee. A stock banshee is 35hp and weighs 386lb dry, 405ish wet, which will be 11.6lb/hp (shitty)
A 421 serval puts out around 80hp, and it is easy to get weight to around 390lbs wet. Now 4.9lb/hp.

Very cool ****.  Loved it.  Thanks for putting up the less then perfect runs.  Nobody is perfect all the time and you'll get better the more you race/ride.  All the quads in this thread are bad ass.

The most a zilla engine can put out.... well Dale's Zilla was measured in the 90's on the dyno.  That is about the most I've heard of.  My zilla is pretty good at 420lb (wet) with 75 RWHP (5.6lb per HP).... of course thats when its all together and running.  Even with all that power you still need traction and skills.

Thanks rogue!! This last season was a definate learning experience!! A big learning experience at that also. Just getting the feel of an ice track along with getting the corners down took some practice. It was my first year of racing and Dave was able to make it to just the one race due to work.  My quad should be much better setup for next year and I will be a little more ready myself also. Thanks again for the comments. A lot of time and work have gone into our quads.

Rogue, just image if you had that 75hp in a frame that weighed around 330lbs. 4.4lb/hp.

I know on suzuki, if you get wider axle you add a lot of weight, same with swingarms. The OEM stuff is so light.

As for traction, run better tires and gear correctly.

yep, i went back to the stock axle from durablue.  10lb difference.

I just bought an axle and its painted metallic silver with a durablue sticker on it, it has different size axle nuts though.  Does that mean it's a factory axle just painted, or do the durablue axles also have different size axle nuts?

I have 2 suzuki aftermarket axles, one actually has an entirely different spline size than a stock axle and also is smaller than my other aftermarket axle. But it had a set of hubs that were stock 5 bolt that fit it, but will not fit a stock axle. It's confusing.. It may just had durablue stickers on it?? But it's hard to say.

I have talked to ftZ numerous times about their pipe. Had the money for it ready to pay and have them make me one.. They are NOT makin pipes of any kind for atvs anymore.. They just haven't updated the site. Sucks
