Got some mystery parts.

So I picked up a 87+ roller to use for my project. It came from a real weirdo. Who got it from a guy who was doing a half decent restore.

The rear axle has a dureblue sticker on it. the threads for the hub nuts are different diameters. Any idea on how I can tell if it is a true durablue? it looks like a stocker to me.
I also got a fiberglass hood. It says R & S Perf on the front. Is this any good or just some homemade junk?
The rear swinger looks stock but is entirely polished up, even in the between the brake stay bar mount so if it is stock someone spent some time on it. Damn thing still has a hairline crack that needs patched.

Ill try and get some pictures up here soon. I also might end up selling some of these extra parts soon.

Also I forgot to mention that it came with some odd front shocks. they are duel rates. someone threw some crap paint on them. any way to ID these?

An easy way to I.d. A durablue is the hub that the brake bolts to is round.  And they use a different nut system than the stock. It will be a nut with an Allen set screw. Post pics that will help a ton but that should help you

also durablue axles literally weight twice as much as a stocker.

Lastly how the project is still now, with the 85-86 swinger at least, still havent got to fire it up. and we are also having to correct the swinger bolt hole in the frame.

I don,t think that's a Durablue axle unless they make different styles?I have a Durablue in my 250 and the axle isn,t tapered outwards,its the same diameter all the way.Also has a different locking nut.I have to remove it this week to change the carrier so I,ll post a pic if you,d like.

That would be great thanks. I had a strong feeling that it was a stock axle that someone stuck a durablue sticker on. The ends are tapered like the stock. The one thing that threw me off was the two different end sizes for the hub nuts. one is the normal size and the other is drastically smaller. Not sure why someone would have this done. Maybe one side got stripped and the turned it down to get better threads.

Any idea on those front shocks or that fiberglass hood? are they worth keeping or should I be looking for others? I probably wont be using the hood since I have a nice blue one but I thought it was something different. and for it to be full fiberglass, I'm not sure if it is a backyard made or not.

thanks for the help guys. Its super exciting to almost have this beast done and running. Its been in pieces for about a year now.

i think the hood and shocks should be swapped out likely. the axle maybe just needs to be chromed/ the stock axle is very strong being 40mm.  i like my chromed dual rate works front shocks/ looks wise.  its pretty hard to upgrade an lt250r. gotta be carefull buying parts. 

stock axle is good/ but needs chrome
stock rad is light and i bit more rock proof compared to aluminum rads.
----
works drs shocks and the entry level cast durablue hubs and a dynoport exhaust is probly the best setup fora 1000 bucks!

Here a pic of the Durablue axle I have installed.It has a locknut only on the the one side.I,ll get another pic when I have it out later this week or early next.

That is more like what I was expecting them to.

I have been wanting some works shocks. More then likely I will pick some up sooner or later for it. These should work for now at least. For exhaust I have the LRD on it now. I hope that I will be happy with that for a little while. As for the axle I will be running my 24 spline so that I can keep my extended yamaha hubs.

This 26 spline will more then likely be sold. along with the Fiberglass hood. I just don't like how that thing looks, and would rather keep the stock hood.

I was thining about getting one of those aluminum rads but It is good to know about the rock proof-ness.

Aftermarket rads aren't that big of an improvement over stock. Save your money and put it tward something else. Just keep your stock one free of mud for good air flow
