Need some quick advice.
« on: March 01, 2014, 10:59:49 am »
So I found on CL (Im officially a CL troll) this!!

http://oregoncoast.craigslist.org/sno/4350163375.html

Now I have an 85-86 frames that I'm putting a 90 motor into... My question is would it be worth trading my frame for his? also I would be selling a lot of my 85-86 random crap to him as well.

If I do trade him what else should I try trading between the two bikes as well? shocks, swinger (looks to be 85-86 style), radiator, steering stem etc.

thanks, I'm pretty excited about this becaus getting this frame I think would make my build a bit easier.

So I talked to him a bit via text today. hes down to trade everything, except I want my plastic, rear axle, hubs, bar set up, bumper and grab bars. The only problems that I see coming from this is that he is four hours away. I think the wife and I are going to plan a two day weekend trip over there so that we can swap everything out and have plenty of time to make sure that everything is in good shape. and the idea behind that is so we both can say that were happy with the things that we wanted to keep and trade the stuff that we want.

The frame is painted purple, I'll live with it for now. the swinger and full suspension is the newer style and he said he would have no problems trading those across as well so Its looking pretty good.

Would my axle work in the newer bearing carrier?
and I'm assuming that my plastic would bolt on fine too.

He'll also be buying my broke a** 86 motor off me and I'll be throwing in all of the other older random parts that I have.

I think its pretty cool too, especially since there are not too many of these bikes in the Oregon area. I pulled up CL for ever city and maybe found 10, 250s and 4 zillas. I told him that it would more then likely be the 15th-16th that we could make it over there. So when that time comes I'll be posting up some PICTURES!!!  (Y)

Would my a arms, brake lines, steering steam and radiator all bolt on to that frame? He has his completely torn down and I'm not sure if he has everything or if I'll be trying to put my stuff on that newer frame. If thats the case I'd like to know if everything will work or not.

I was under the impression that he had all of the newer stuff but apparently he just has the frame, swing arm and rear shock set up.  and also the frame is bent where the grab bar bolts on :'(

Yep that what we ended up doing. I'll keep with my original plan of modifying my older frame to fit the newer motor. would be easier doing that instead of trying to piece together another bike, again.

Thanks for the help guys, still a little bummed that it did not work out though, but better that then being screwed over.
