Need info on a 91 quadracer
« on: February 23, 2015, 11:27:09 pm »
Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum but I decided to register to get the experts opinion on this matter. I'm thinking about buying a 91 lt250 and I was wondering what you could tell me about it? Where would I look around the bike and on the engine to check for common problem areas? How to I know if the bike is a 91? Is it labeled in the vin number? Would it be a challenge to get the engine rebuilt (top and bottom)? How about accesories are they hard to come by? Such as a-arms, wider axles, aftermarket swingarms etc.... I've read some about converting parts from other quads on the market, which is fine by me but I just want to know if I have difficulty doing any upgrades to the bike?

Here's the link so you can visually see what I'm lookin at...

Thank you for your help and I appreciate your suggestions.

Yes that is a 91-92. The main way to tell is the rear shock. the 85-90 have a rear facing shock, the 91-92 have a forward facing rear shock. The vin number would also tell you the year. The 10 digit in is a letter. The letter corresponds with a year.

Looks like a decent bike from the pictures.

Engine Rebuilds and parts for the engine are cheap and not hard to find... Accessories are a little harder to find, but not impossible.

Main issue will be front suspension/handling
