If you have the old crank and it needs to be rebuilt, Put an 88-92 rod on the crank and you'll have a "long rod " motor.
But...You'll hafta get a spacer plate made up for the additional length.
Cometic gasket co. can easily make that for you, They did mine for me.

Just a thought if you decide to hold to it.
