« on: July 27, 2015, 09:17:45 pm »
Just had my engine built, head milled .30 , port and polished, 38mm carb, fmf pipes. Now i believe i had some detonation problems and was wondering if someone has a similier set up or knows if i should be running 110 octane or is 93 octane okay?

Well I had a guy do the work for me. Not 100 percent positive if it was mm or in.

What is your piston to head clearance (How much space is there between the piston and head when the piston is at top dead center)?

I may be off but the PO of my 87 said he had some work done. I've never pulled the top end apart or checked head but I'm pushing about 185 psi compression.

I was told that I'm in the race gas game at that comp.

So that could be something to check and go by. But.... If I was misled. Then this isn't very good advice. Lol.

I ran 110 in my 86' 25R.  I just had to change my jetting.  Racing fuel made my motor purr like a kitten.  Expensive but I could tell a difference in performance.
