this was the begging of the demise of the racer it crossed the finish line by only 2 feet and stopped dead in its tracks.

Awesome. I'd love to see a gopro vid. Or better yet, just let me take a couple laps!
(that's all I could handle these days)

it broke couple teeth off 3rd gear, i was having problems with the tranny all year, it was popping out of second and having a hard time from 3 to 4, i crossed the line in second right on guys ktm 525 butt. as soon as it crossed it didnt even make it down the down side of the hill. got a pick of that to trying to get it back to the pit so the next race could start. it also broke the boss in the case that the rod the shift fork mount on. i had the cases fixed and pick the motor up next week its all done and back together now, its goin on my spare racer.

Sweet. I wonder what caused the gear to break? Just being old? How much did a new gear set cost? Where do you even get one? Had you polished the gears? Just asking for my own info.

60 bucks for the trans and shift forks most of my parts are ebay specials, the trans i got had a broken gear also but not the gear i broke so used both trannys to make one good one plus i need shift forks i guess they told me i bent 2 of them. didn't do anything specal to the trans i guess from what i have been told the weak point of the racers are the trans. wish youkon made a hd tranny. but only for the honda. i have also brake the trans in my 00 rm250 seems i am good for that.

Haha! I hear ya bro. I was hell on clutches, cases and trans. Motocross is hard on stuff. On my YZ, I only used my clutch to leave the gate in second, slip it to stay in the power, I'd just slam gears all the way to the first turn.. Haha. Gets ya there quicker, but hard on shift forks. Whatever it takes to win. One time I downshifted a bike next to me with my right foot! Haha! 125 C-class was a rough bunch back in my day.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but it was on purpose. I was just a young punk back then. Haha! Still makes me laugh though when I see it it my head.

As long as it wasn't me that ya downshifted and the guy didn't suffer serious injuries over it, well then whatever gets the job done!!  S~ P*

Nah, he didn't crash, but I probably did later. I always got a good start, but I was pretty crash prone it seems :-) my knees and ankles complain a lot, but it was all worth the fun if you ask me. I got the itch again, cause my 5yr old is a little speed freak on his KFX50. He already wants more power. I'm trying to get my quad ready for a little hare scramble action too. Looks like my racin career is getting geared back up. I'm getting arm pump just thinking about it!!!
