92lt250 Front Suspension Questions
« on: February 09, 2015, 01:53:27 am »
I am in the middle of a big project and a lot of the work I set out to do to my baby (92lt250r) is complete or near complete however. I want to modify the front suspension. Are there any good ways to go about this other than doing the yfz450 conversion? Any help would be appreciated... Thanks.

Ive read hours of info and found your going to read aftermarket a arms such as lsr, burgard, laegers, and other home shop built a arms that are built correctly, strongly, and match the geometry of the shock used, are best for the lt. Theres not a big aftermarket following so ppl do it themselves like i am going to do. Ill post pics and and a thread later this week on it..

Cool, keep me updated. Anyone else have some useful info/knowhow of what they have seen/done to make the front suspension better?

like pat said there are only a few options out there, burgard isnt around anymore unfortunately. upgrading the front shocks would be number one i would recommend. a guy on springfield illinois craigslist has a set of works fronts with rezzies for a really good price. there are other brands of shocks that are very good, depending on budget. as far as a arms go the stock arms are not bad but the problem is suzuki has goofy camber from factory, its a positive camber. not ideal. negative camber is what you would want. meaning the tire tips in at the top a bit. on this site in the store there is a lt250 camber kit. takes no time to install and will give you the optimum camber angle with stock a arms.

as far as a arms go keep looking around on craigslist or on here for a +2 set, laegers or lonestar, burgard also. i lucked out and got a set of laegers just last month for my 92 im restoring. from the guy with the works i mentioned before. definaetly a straight guy to work a deal with. he wants to move his stuff he has for sale.

Pat also maybe in the works of building some a arms so he juuuust might be able to hook u up with a set in the near future.

good luck on your project! i do have a bunch of pictures of my restoration of my 92 i could get u some if your interested. i have a ton on gusseting the frame. i couldnt find much out there on gusseting a lt frame so i made a thread on everything2stroke about it.

Nice... Good Info. Probably something I will do in the near future. Let me know how well it works when you are finished... Bike looks awesome.

What all do you have done to it?

Well the bike was in pieces when I got it. I got it all together and running at first. Went trail riding once. And the next week it was a bare frame. Every bearing and bushing on the frame is new, shocks are rebuilt, lots of stuff freshly powdercoated. The motor is fully built by lrd. And was not in the bike when I got it, my friend had it in his basement for a rainy day.

Nice, Keep it up man. How much did your Laegers cost you? And what is a fair price for Lonestar? In case I have a hard time finding Laegers. From what I have read and heard. Both are good, but Laegers are slightly better. I will get a few pics of my bike up here in a couple days.

Well I stumbled across the set on Craigslist. It was a steal. Let's just put it that way. Laegers, lonestar and burgard are all very good companies. Laegers and lonestar being the best. But unfortunately neither company is building a arms for the lt anymore. There is a possibility of calling them and finding out if they are still making them or not. I have contacted them a few times about some miscelaneous thinfs and they are super easy to work with. Keep your eyes peeled online, and search craigslist often. Something will pop up. If nothing else just pick up the camber kit from the site here and run that until you can find some arms.

Did you see I made mention of the works shocks in Springfield Illinois for sale real cheap..

Yes I did see that you mentioned that. I actually just ordered some the other day that I found for cheap... That is also super close to where I live and the person should be delivering them to me tomorrow.

Just looking for the Front A Arms now and a few other things.

What size carb are you running and What Reeds? And I have heard mixed reviews on the Rad Valve... Any info on these would be much appreciated.

I am just running the stock carb. I have a 92 so I have the smaller reeds. And I am running a vforce2 with carbon reeds.

Same, except I have Vforce 1 Reeds right now... Ordering 3. May bore my current carb out a bit, just not yet.
