PSI pipes any good?
« on: December 10, 2015, 11:15:42 am »
Ok guys right now I'm running My PT pipe and I am enjoying it.

Ran across a PSI pipe on CL for $25.00 only problem is that someone dented it in order to clear a cool head.

They are also selling a belly skid for $25.00

and OEM heel guards..

I figure I'd get the skid and guards since I plan on trailing my LT quite often, and figured might as well pick up the pipe, worst case I have a new wall ornament.

My question is performance wise where will this thing stack vs. my PT pipe?

i have one but i ran it only for a weekend. i loved the sound- especialy the top end sound. it looks identacle to my shearer but the shearer is a little bigger/ fatter. for a stock engine there is an advantage for the psi i believe. i have not tried the shearer yet as im doing a frame up restoration.

i didnt know they were similiar till it arrived. i had a chance to get a chhromed shearer and i took it.

you will want to pull the dent out and get it chromed. the psi delivers a nice racey package but the pt is better at lower rpm as i understand.

Just picked up a PSI pipe yesterday. Haven't tried it yet. It looks kind of similar to my dynoport, not quite as fat and has a slightly different curve to it. It's quite a bit different than the lrd systems I have. Much lighter weight than the lrd. It's also quite a bit different then my FMF, much smoother curve and taper than the FMF. I would like to get my hands on a Paul turner high rev, had the chance and should have taken it but I passed it up. I plan on sending the psi to Carl Bartlett so he can run it on dyno side by side with dynoport and ftz pipes. I chat with him here and there and he mentioned guys he know have put them on and never switched to anything else. I will run a seat of the pants dyno with the LRD, dynoport and psi out on the ice in a couple weeks wen its safe. The psi was for sure a good score at 25$

Thanks for the reply. I didn't end up getting that PSI pipe though. kinda kicking myself in the ass. I went and looked at it and turns out that the "dent" actually had a hole that was kinda of patched with some crappy looking weld bead. So I just got my Skid plate. I think it is still for sale though. I just didn't want to go through the hassle of having the dent pulled, hole patched and then still prefer my LRD. Let me know how that thing goes I might just go grab it  (Y)

The psi pipe doesn't fit good at all on my quad, I have 3 different silencers, none fit the psi good at all. I have seen plenty of pictures of these pipes mounted and they look just fine, don't know what the deal is there. I have 5 pipes and the other 4 fit this one didn't. It's obviously made for 87-92. But whatever it will hang in the basement by the others until I wanna mess with it more.

Yah I have actually seen that ad. My pipe doesn't have the flange welded on, I have numerous flanges tho. I'm not gunna worry bout it. My lrd is goin back on the race bike. Season is starting next weekend and I don't have time to **** around with it.

You should be closer then that Josh it's not too far east from the Clackamas town center, I could always pick it up and ship it out as well.
