Shearer vs. Paul Turner Pipe Question

I just got a stock 89 LT 250R (see new members section for pictures) and am starting to dream about upgrades.  After reading through the website it seems the consensus is that the Shearer is the best all around pipe, so it is on the top of my list.  My only concern about the Shearer pipe is whether you have to cut the front fender to install it, which I would rather not do.  I saw a picture where it seems to require a pretty big hole in the left front fender.  I'd also like to read more feedback on the Paul Turner pipe if anyone has one.  I've bought Duncan products in the past and have been happy with them.  Thanks.

If you do opt for a PT pipe pretty sure you could score a used one if you keep your eyes open.Also PT made a midrange and a hi rev pipe for the 250,s...Pretty sure only the midrange pipe is available from Duncan.

I,ve also heard the Shearer is supposed to be #1 but have never run one.Someone is planning a dyno session,results should be interesting.

Plenty of decent pipes out there,how much difference there is I don,t know.What year 250 do you have?

It's an 89.  I'm definitely leaning towards the Shearer.  My only concern is whether you have to trim the front fenders?  I've got OEM fenders and I don't like to do mods that can't be undone.

i dont think you have to trim fenders on a 250,

On a 250 you have to trim a little bit to run the Shearer if you still have the fenders

There is a pretty good selection of pipes for the 250,s.Not sure how much difference there is performance wise.Theres a thread around here somewhere about 250 pipes,some comments on different names people are running.
