« on: December 28, 2012, 05:09:15 pm »
Im running stock carb.Mods are Boyshen rad valve, milled  head.20, Trail porting,Fmf pipe and silencer ,K n air filter, bored .80 over.My jetting is pilot is 35  stock needle 4 clip main 240 .It seems my pilot is still rich high rev point is 2 and half turns out.I put a 260 in it this evening and 1 st and 2nd wouldnt rev completely  out  but 3 threw 6 would.i 2000  feet is base and run up to 4000 feet .Also does the 38 pwk give  you more power when adding them onto these quad.I have one brand new but i couldnt get it jetted right. But i had a air leak when i was trying it.I want to know is their a big difference in the bigger carb and worth the time of putting it on.Thanks

Someone here should be able to answer your question....

I'd try but I've only had 39pwk experience on a trx250r and a Zilla. So I'm not much help... _^_

Well did the 39 pwk give you a power edge over the stocker.

On the trx250r yes ...

On the Zilla I can't say since the pwk was on the quad when it was purchased. Some say that the mikuni carb is better, more tuning capability. I have a bunch of keihin jets & needles, so I'm more familiar when jetting.

Properly set up a 38-39 on a 250 will make more power than a 34. Much larger than a 38 and you will will loose torque and ride ability. Depending on engine and pipe setup. A 36-41 is the optimum setup generally.

Thanks Iceracer.Hey do you use  Scp pipe.I was wondering how good it is also how would it compare to paul turner. Thats  if you use it.Also dont you do port on these motors.I had a little done that was a joke .I had to knife edge the transfer ports myself. They just took a little material off .But i think i want it ported alot more.I was able to keep up with my friend trx450r. before Christmas. He got a bunch of stuff for it and hes young and he thinks 2 strokes are a joke and their noway they can complete. He was able to pull away from me the other day. That why i want to  know whats is the best around pipe for lt250r. I like midrange also topend. But i dont want a pipe that is all topend.Everyone telling me the scp pipe is the best but no input on how it ride or where the power is in it.Thanks Brian

So with some trail porting 38pwk Boyshen rad valve kn filter milled head .20 bored .80 over.So would it pull hard with these mods right now.I do alot of trail riding and need good midrange  and low. Also would i have to cut my stock fenders to run this pipe. From the photos it looks tight in their.

Get rid of the RAD valve it is constictive, Put a stock cage with carbon tech reeds in it till you can get V2's. With the SCP/Q pipe your combo will rip.......... Might have to trim a little but you can still run dumbo ears.

I like how Boyshen change the throttle respones   on the bike.It seems to be more crisps threw all the ranges.I wonder how long it would take for them to get me Scp pipe ready and shipped.

As far as carbs I run a 38mm Mikuni TMX which works very well. Can get one off a Honda 02/03 CR250 for a decent price.

Matt has a Chrome 250 pipe + shield ready to ship for $635. Boyessen Is restictive, it has ok low/mid response with old tech pipes like fmf. It is a worse cage thank stock with good reeds, Then add a big carb and pipe= JUNK..

Il check into getting some new v force reeds. What about the 4s.Also will a zillia boot work on the 250s for the bigger carb so you dont have to fight getting a 38 in a stock boot.

anything after V2's suck. Zilla boots work, just need to match small and big reed and angled or straight.
