Any suggestions/tips on how to remove a clutch cover that doesn't want to separate? Yes, all the bolts are out. Thanks.
Are you able to push on anything? Try to pry it off. Just don't pry it by sticking a screw driver in between the case and the cover.
I always knock with a rubber hammer, but be careful!
Tried the rubber hammer, carefully. There is also a little tab that's part of the casting that I pried against/on, but nothing--no movement at all. Any other ideas?
Take a real Hammer and a Screwdriver and nocks carefull on the Tab.
This must be check that really all bolt' s are down !
You can also use the rubber mallet to hit clutch pin plug but put the clutch lever on it otherwise you nock on the toothing
Its finicky.
Keep beating on it.
The rubber mallet all around the edges really should work even if it takes a little while. Has it been a long time since that cover was off? Mine have all only taken hand pressure or just a light tap w/the rubber mallet and it's off. These are all 88+ though so I'm not sure if the 85-86 covers are more troublesome.
Stupid question but you did pull the shaft out that the clutch lever is attached to?
was told this and it worked !! Put a wrench on the clutch shaft ,turn counter clockwise and it comes right apart . mine was stuck just like yours and no mallet would free it .But this made it just pop right off. Mine was 92 so i am assuming the 85/86 would be the same . hope this helps
