Hello everyone i'm new to the forum. I traded a handgun for a 90 lt250r project. The engine is suppost to be all rebuilt with a 330 kit. The carb is a flat side Minkuni, which i believe is stock. I took it apart last night and it had a 240 and .035? That's stock isn't it? I understand how to do the plug chop and what not but i was looking for some insight on what a good size of jets would be to start.
So its suppost to be a 330, it has a ltd head pipe? i think that's the brand? with an FMF Powercore pipe. That's about all i know. I'm guna try and verify that it is 330 by checking the top of the piston. so any input on tuning would be appreciated.
Also i need new front rubber brake lines if anyone has any or a good recommendation on where to buy some. Maybe steel ones? Any good recommendations for shocks? All the shocks are shot.
Yea the main is stock pilot 1size down. Lrd is the pipe you have. Does your motor have any engraving on it like a company that done 330 kit. Their never was many that done them anyways. Is their a spacer plate under the jug. You have to watch people trying to sell you more then whats their. But lrd pipe is a good score.
sounds to me like you got lied to. i hope i am wrong, but you just dont see a lt250r with a 330kit
maybe the guys new honda has the 330 kit.
Well i'm guna take it apart or use my friends bore scope to try and verify what piston is in it. Honestly i kinda hope that it's not a 330 cus from the little bit I've read it sounds difficult to get replacement pistons and such. I didn't get hurt either way, i only had $325 in the handgun i traded... i can part the thing out for more than that!
Thanks for the input though guys, guess i need to figure out what i got for sure before anyone can advise any further
In order for it to be 330 it would need a 77.5-78 mm piston or be stroked if its a smaller bore.
rhetorical comment but i would sort of understand to lie to someone about saying your atv has work done when it doesnt to make a sale but i hear people claim their atvs/toys have lots of work done and when it comes time to show what it can do they get scarred or get embarrassed... not trying to stereotype people but it was norm to hear people talk"big talk" and brag about what mods when i lived in VA and SC, "everyone" had big bore atvs and motorcyles, 100mph quads were "everywhere." bunch of ______ if you ask me.

just take the head off and measure the bore with calipers
stock stroke crank would require a 77 mm bore (+10mm) to make 330cc engine
Its probably bore. 080 over and they added the number to 250, ive found alot of ppl think that way
You are a guinness zilla, no sarcasm.

You can tell if someone from VA is lying by wether or not their mouth is open. I hated that hillbilly state like non other. Either full of bs or "their daddy works at the Capitol." Effing snobs. Sorry to all members from that state, but I didn't have a pleasant stay.
We say that about the politicians here in kalifornia, you can tell they're lying if their lips are moving
Hey i just noticed one of my post above was #273. .....zilla273
Wow i'm stupid. i Didn't even think about the stroke of it. So seeing the piston wouldn't tell me 100% what it is. I'll try anyway, i just haven't had time to get there after work. This is suppost to be a "kit" that's installed. there wasn't that many different ones available was there? was there kinda a standard bore and stroke to achieve 330 in these?
These are really hard to get to 330, most people hear 310 and they think ESR 310/330, but Hondas have a 72mm stroke. Its a common incorrect crossover. There is/was no KIT for a Lt. They used Early tecate and Honda Sleeves, and just made them work. I've only seen 2 true 310 that I didn't personally spec and build, Ive found pistons for half a dozen others. Im telling you the old stuff are really are not a great setup, extremely thin sleeves at 74mm max bore, no one really took the time to make a real sleeve for the LT that offered a KIT, it was a off the shelf and live with it to keep them cheap. Im not saying there are no good or real ones, they are just not from the big box stores and are FAR and FEW between.
