87 Big Reed Clyinder & Head -$70+ Ride
« on: August 02, 2016, 10:12:52 am »
Got a 87 Big reed cylinder & head, 88.5MM, no power valve.

Cylinder was "worked" on by previous owner, they drilled out the cylinder & head and at least 3, maybe 4 of the studs for 10mm studs but did a hack job.  I sent the cylinder & head to Jerry and he was unsure if he could get the 10mm studs in the cylinder & straight but he said it'd be at least 3-4 hours to give it a try with no guarantee of success.

I decided that I'd be under water on the cylinder for him to try and that it'd just be best not to invest the cash to see if we could make it work as I have a couple other 87 cylinders.

I think the best plan of action for someone who can/wants to do the work is to get the studs in the cylinder and then get a good head and drill out the head to match the studs installed in the cylinder.

Letting it go just to clear the shelf $70 + the ride.

Cylinder is 88.5MM, may be able to get away with just a hone depending on how out of round it is & what the clearance is once studs are installed.

Head has been welded & o-ringed, and has the "turbo" mod from Trinity but it's in pretty ruff shape.

That's a great deal right there. If you still have it around November, I'll take it
