86 lt250r
« on: November 14, 2013, 06:39:53 am »
Are the 86 lt250r a good reliable quad or ids the motor just junk? the reason I ask is because I just rebuilt my wife's with fresh bore, wiseco piston kit and the thrust washer and bearing kit from the store here and it ran for about 10 seconds then quit.I pulled the cylinder and the rings were such in the grooves with the ring gap closed so it didn't have any compression.I have had more problems with this quad than any other one I've worked on.

picture of what.I already checked the cylinder and it's perfect. it has.003  clearance over the piston. the rings came out of the grooves with my finger nail. blew the piston off with air and now the rings go in and move like they should.

life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sidays totally worn out shouting "HOLY SH*T...WHAT A RIDE!"
