Top End Rebuid Questions
« on: August 12, 2015, 04:33:11 am »
Hello, I recently bought an 88' LT500 and shortly after there was some damage to the top end. The mechanic said it seems it was a piston ring problem and it damaged the cyclinder. Im going to get the cylinders bored and would like to know what exactly should I get. The piston that came out say .075 and the crank is a Hotrod that says CK155 on the side. Everything was pretty new, the piston didnt even have any carbon build up. What should the cylinder be bored to and what piston set should I order? Thanks, trying to get it up and running asap.

Buy the next size up piston.

If it's a wiesco, you can identify what size it is by the numbers on the top (cross with their website)  or you can mic the bore with a set of calipers.  Give the new piston to the shop that's boring it and have them bore to the piston.

Its not a Wiseco piston as I don't see it marked anywhere but here is a pic. It has .75 stamped on the top.
