« on: September 19, 2013, 05:32:44 am »
How do you know if your power valve is working the way it's supposed to?? Is are power valves opening and closing when it should be how do we know?? And if the power valve is not working the way it should be can it damage the motor in any way??

If its not operating (closing after a certain rpm) you won't get decent top end power when your on it. That's what I've read at least.

For a basic function check just start the engine, look in the sight glass on the right side of the cylinder and rev the engine.  If the valve is operating you will see the linkage move as it closes and opens.

If its not operating (closing after a certain rpm), not only will high RPM power suffer but your piston may also suffer overheating.

Ken:

If all of your riding is like the riding I saw in your videos, your RPMs never drop low enough for your power valve to be of any benefit.

Adjust the spring so that the valve stays closed all of the time and give it a test ride.  Then tell us how much difference you can feel.
