Edelbrock??
« on: November 25, 2012, 03:21:12 pm »
I picked up a real nice zilla yesterday and as usual, it was a second owner kind of situation and the dude had some info on the motor, but did not know all the facts.  It has a 3mm stroker crank (89mm I beleive?) and I am trying to figure out what the displacement would be??  The dude also claimed that the motor was built by engineers/mechanics at Edelbrock???  Anyone ever heard of them building motors??  The motor is a work of art, and absolutley RIPS, but I am used to seeing motors built by Trinity, CT, Etc. not Edelbrock.  If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! I love the screen name lol. It might help a bit if you had some pics of the power plant. There is a wealth of knowledge here from people who bleed Blue. And usually they will ask for pics first and foremost.

The ad says it's a bill's pipe, not that "Dr. Q junk".
First time I've ever seen anyone praise a bill's pipe over a Q pipe LOL

Is this the quadzilla?

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/3427795915.html

Yes, this is the one.  We agreed on a price and he delivered it.  The guy was **** drunk by the time it showed up be he had someone driving.  The bike and parts are amazing, just kind of a strange story behind the motor build.

I see they blocked the "power valve" and put a 41 PWK on it. What fuel did he say to run? How about some pics of the other cylinder. Nice score!

I assume you are the-dirt-factory on ebay?  See some nice zilla parts on there from you.  You could probably sell most of that stuff here or on other forums, avoid ebay fees, and give us a deal :)

I wonder if that "74" etched in the head represents the combustion chamber size. If so, thats hella BIG!

I have tried selling parts on forums before, and had way too many issues with buyers, payments, addresses, haggling, lowballing etc.  And certain folks that want to call my cell number all hours of the day to ask questions about anythind and everything.  There were a lot great people to deal with and some that were not.  I know that the forums are a great spot for the die hards that bleed blue and red, however ebay provides a platform that streamlines the entire process, and I do not mind the fees because of that.

For some reason I am having trouble replying with a quote.  In regards to the kid I bought it from, yes, something was definitely strange with him.  He was talking a mile a minute and acquiring this machine was an odd experience.  I was able to get him to deliver it, but like I said, by the time he got here he seemed 'just a little' jacked on something.  he said he was drunk, but did not act like a drunk person would.  I could take a pretty good guess at what he was on but I will not speculate.  The the kid insisted on kicking the bike over again and again at 9:30PM (I live in a horse community), and proceeded to get the rear fender caught under his boot and **** it.  This WAS a PERFECT OEM rear fender, not any more and I made him take $150 off the price.

As far as the biek goes, it hauls ass like nothing I have ridden.  I only have an acre of dirt, so there was no way I was going to open it up and really test it out.  I went back and forth a bit thinking I would keep it and have as a second bike, but the setup is nowhere near what I want.  If it had a stock length swingarm and plus 2" arms with some nice Elka's or some other shocks, it would probably have been added.  I am not big on drag bikes personally.  I like jumping and railing a berm and sliding the back end out as much as possible.  I like an MX style bike with a big bad ass motor.  So this would not fit the bill.  Kind of a shame to part it out, but I am sure the parts will go to some pretty nice builds.
