I have the choice of running standard link rear shock setup on my 250 or a no link setup.
Will be mainly riding fields and trails.
Which would be best and what are the pros and cons between to two setups?
Thanks

I prefer the linked rear. Back when I decided I read a whole lot of articles discussing suspension theory, less than half of it made a whole lot of sense to me but what I did understand led me to keep my factory linked rear. Probably the best argument for linked rear suspension is that it is what's still used on the most modern swing arm quads still produced today.
Pro for non-linked rear is less weight and less complicated. Ktm runs some non-linked on their dirtbikes but I know it takes a very specialized shock and shock tuning to get it to work well.

Thanks for reply.
I have a outlaw 250 and it has 2 rear upper mounts.Im assuming one for link and one no link.Plus I have 2 swingers again one link the other no link (-2).
Before I start building this thing just wanted some insight as to which swinger to use
-
It all depends. Some setups, the no-link works great, i just hate the bulky of the lt250r linkage.

I'll get both swingers powered I think.
You can use the same shock for either setup??
-
Very doubtful you can use both shocks. The shocks will most likely need different valving as the compression ratio will change from no link to link.
