Title: 92 lt250r restoration
Post by: 92lt250wannabe on April 15, 2015, 07:11:01 pm
Well the quad is just about done, needs chain and sprocket, braided front brake lines, and new tires but I figured I would put up some before and after pics

Lrd built small reed motor
Lrd pipe
Frame gusseted and fresh powdercoat, everything else coated as well.
Works shocks rebuilt by me and powdered.
Rebuilt rear shock and powdered spring
Laegers +2 arms
Laegers swingarm
All bearings and bushings replaced on quad
Pro taper bars
Uni filter

I have the stock heel guards and headlight that were also powdered but I don't have them on.
The quad is not done, still plenty of things I would like to add. Nerf bars and graphics being some big things.

Quad of the month possibly?   +k2

Motor out, plastic sitting on. She was in rough shape to say the least. Not to mention a bent frame.

I have a bunch more photos of the build along the way I just posted the drastic changes that happened. Hope you all enjoy. I would love to have this quad on the front page of the site for quad of the month. I think she deserves it. 👍🏼. Came a loooong way as you can see.

Probably wet sanding, then buffing, and them probably waxed

Nice. Finding an aftermarket swing are for the 91 92 can be difficult.
Nice find

Thanks guys. Yes finding a swingarm was not easy, it found me. I had some want ads and it worked out well.

As for plastic. I sanded it with 220-320-400-800-1500 yes wet sand. Than buffed it a little. Wax didn't do much for me and still had a dull appearance. Secret recipe! Armoral haha yeah it made the olastics shine pretty decent. They r not perfect by any means but I can live with them for sure.

Im fine with the way my plastics turned out thanks. If I would do anything more I would try the plastic renew stuff. This build was a lot of fun. My 2 year old son has claimed the quad already. Everytime he's around it with me he says "this mine" haha. I think I will need to start looking for a zilla soon.

So my quad is all up and running. Got a chance to take it out with my buddy to some local trails. It ran flawless and is a beast! I'm soooo happy with how it turned out. Perfect trail quad in my opinion. My buddy just picked up his 4mil 392 cheetah banshee so this was a trial run for both due to his being new and mine as well. Here are some pictures from the trails.

I am going with the 90 decal kit. The rims and tires were a loaner from a friend. Trying to get the full set of black bead locks from him but I don't think it's going to happen. Those tires were so mean on the trails. Serious roost and rocks would fly! Haha..

Gilles thank you so much for that swingarm! It was a great peace of mind that the chain wasn't going to come loose due to the old box style adjustment of the stock swingarm. Imo that swingarm looks better in my garage  +k2

Well I am in the process of the tm38 swap with zilla intake boot, and airbox pipe, 250r filter. I have a few more things to get to complete the swap but most stuff is on the bike.  I am waiting on my sbdesigns zilla airbox eliminator kit. I'm going to mod it to fit the 250, and I have to order up a new longer throttle cable.

Got my sbdesigns zilla airbox eliminator, had to do some cutting on it to make it fit. I mounted it with some 1/8 aluminum flat stock. It isn't as pretty as it would be if I had good access to aluminum welder but hey it works and it's solid! Let me know what you all think.

So I found out today that my throttle cable is an 85-86 atc250r cable. But the guys over at motion pro are making me a custom cable to fit the tm and work with my turbo twist throttle. They were super awesome to work with. 40$ for a custom cable, not bad at all. Hope to have it in a week or so, gotta get that new crab tuned in.
