Title: trx150R
Post by: Iceracer on March 14, 2014, 06:47:21 pm
Started a new project, Honda Trx plastic on a weapon x chassis with Liquid 150 engine. Ultimate pit bike. Shooting for a 200 lb machine. Been actually working on it for @ 2 weeks now,  almost ready to do some welding.

Not sure if it will see any racing it for Danielle and she isn't in to racing her self. But there might be a kid or two around that wants to race it.

Yup, original one was for a yellow and blue so It was fittingly named. They are all weapon X frames if I build them.  This for my girl so I'll degisnate it X-23. They won't go in order.
As of now its front rails are spaced for a trx450 front end. But that don't mean its what it will end up with.

CRF250f later on. If it was gonna get a two stroke I would of done it a lot different, could of been way more compact. Not happy with seat height at the moment. Gonna try a tank cover and maybe an aluminum tank.

Coming along got the upper sub frame on so I can position plastics and start steering system, have to order a custom throttle cable to work with the thumb throttle. unless she like a twist grip that is, better ask.
any way here's the latest.

Nice right side drive sprocket LOL
What axle are you using? Looks almost like a solid kart axle with split hubs?

She sits up all by her self now,  just a couple mounts at this point and its done. Still undecided on radiator at this point, waiting on a price for a new custom one based on a trx450 but more suited to a smaller chassis.

couple more, I need a Good heavy duty small box pan brake 24" would be big enough but need to be able to to handle 3/16 steel Any Ideas?

Still undecided on front bumper, going to have to decide tonight this is the one of the YFZ it lines up a little better than the Honda.

Front plastic all mounted and in position just have make a mount to pull in the mounts under the tank.

Front engine mounts, sometimes I suprise myself, I had to bend them in a vise with a torch and pliers, by eye by golly, amazed they lined up and are very symetrical, Ill never be able to repeat a set like this, hence a brake.

Radiator is the oem trx 450, production model will be a custom 1.5" shorter, but still have a Fan provision be here in about a week or so Literally on the slow boat from CHINA .  Should be pretty sweet though.

Almost 11 " of ground clearance with these shocks and 10" of travel, have to see how top heavy it is as to where it will end up, ,I have a lot of latitude  with the front shocks the rear I may have to build a different swing arm, It will work for the time being I can always do a linkage if I need to. We have a racer eager to get it in the woods, especially now his older brother has a 250 raptor and hes on the anemic 125 still.  Not sure how much Danielle is going to get to ride it...

Pipe is built, had to lose the front section of the HMF CRF 150 can and shorten the oe head pipe some. I got a couple mandrel bent stainless pieces and here it is. Be out for its first ride tonight.

Yeah it was Jordan. Think its a DRR chassis maybe? It was comical how fast it was compared to the rest of the field

Well this project is pretty much all wrapped up. Tested on Sunday with no major issue, lost one bolt....., except for needing a fan and Nerfbars all major fab work is done tested and working better than expected.
It weighs in at 240 lbs. Turns on a dime and sounds bad as hell when you start it.
Play the Happy song.......

Already looking for a crf250x engine for the next one. I would not hesitate to race a 250 version In a 450 class.
