any indication is better than no indication so i understand where u are coming. maybe try using a heat gun to get some easy readings.

I understand that pcs I was just wondering how much it actually drops your temp from out to in thats all. mine is on the lower on both quads and I like it around 170-180 I've seen 200 when I'm putsing around but I get nervous when its up there

the difference between the high temp and low temp will only tell you how your heat exchanger, radiator, is working. the temp of the water coming out of motor is a better indicator of what is going on inside the engine.

I'd like to know the difference between upper and lower temps to. Like 414 said the temp of either is just a reference so you can take action when it gets to high

So has anyone else looked at what the return line temp is when the motor is running where it should be? What is normal operating temp on the top hose and what is the difference after the radiator.

On the hybrid I did the trail tech digital also. I stuck the display in front of the gas cap so I can see temp without leaning off the bike.

On a related note. Has anyone used the inline aluminum finned fluid coolers?  Do you think they work or just look cool.  I have seen pictures of a Quad with some really big inline coolers but i cant find them for sale.

For the upper hose. I have used a trailtech Tto temp sensor with digital display. I liked it and then upgraded to a trailtech vApor system with all the useful data.

I have the Tto sensor for sale if anyone is interested. Pm me

Monitoring return temp is ok - you are looking for a average normal operating temp and also if its ABOVE or BELOW normal so you can take action.

I agree the outlet temp is great but its hard to package on the Zilla. I am going to run one in the return line where I can easily look down and see when out roosting and pulling wheelies.

All heatseeker gauges were in the top hose to the radiator. I had mine up there on my drag bike. Plan on putting it there when i get my bike back together.

It would be kind of a pain in the a$$ to put it on the top line

Is this the preferred location to check the coolant temp? I think I would rather know what the temp of the water coming out of the engine is rather than the temp of the water coming out of the radiator.

I've got them on 2 of my quads and I'm in the 170 range. I get nervous when I see 190 and above.

Just bought a in line temp guage and i am Going to mount it in the return line from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump. Was wondering if anyone else has this and what kind of temps are you getting?
