Rat, is your 250 back together? Are you going to make the spring ride at Little Sahara?
Still waiting on a clutch basket....I should be good to go by the end of the month....right about the time it should be hot n nasty....lol
-
That's the Yoshimura Cherry Bomb, or I think the dealer can access the alternate map.
The hot mod for the LTR was to pull the plug out of the stock exhaust and use the Cherry Bomb for the alternate fuel map (maybe ignition too?).
-
I don't think so. The alternate mapping is already on the efi chip. If it was a aftermarket item, Suzuki would not have gotten in trouble. Local tuner plugged in and accessed the alternate mapping. It does not pass emission tests with this alternate mapping.
-
Are you guys aware of the alternate efi mapping on the LTR? Buddy had it done to his along with the reg slip on mods and it make a LOT of difference.
Suzuki got in some heat for having the alternate mapping on the LTR so it probably won't be available on future production runs.
Sounds like your describing the 'cherry bomb' plug in module......
-
Zilla 273
yeap, Aaen all the way +k2

i raced a outlander 800 in aprox. 600ft pavement, i beat it of the line and won with around a 5-6 bike lead. this was with a aaen pipe v3 reeds 41m carb
-
Nopick.....umm, what was the question?? lol.....its still tore apart. [|]

Just certain ones, not all by any means. But the ones I am whippin, ohhh hells yeah its awesome!!! lol And the 450s that are faster....if they slip up in the littlest way, then they end up bein a laa-who-sir as well...lol. And the CT 310Rs that I run dead even with.....yeah, 1 slip up and we go from dead even to me in front. She runs good for just havin a pipe...hehehe (Y) ;D
-
Nice! haha that's pretty awesome that you're 250 is beating down 450's!
-
I've beat every LTR I've raced with my YFZ the LTR's are pretty heavy bikes for the 450 class. 370 pound bike vs 414 pound and the most horsepower you're gonna get on a stock bore and stroke 450 is about 65hp(unless your on a bottle). YFZ's with just having a CT pipe dyno at 48hp. I'd say mine is roughly close to 50hp :) it's not going to get blown out of the water by any other bolt on 450...I'm not saying it wont lose. I personally love the early model 450's they're lighter! I do not have the YFZR those are just as heavy as an LTR. BTW I've beat LTR's with full pipe's and the cherry bomb back when I was running the GYTR set up one of my friends has that exact set up.
That makes me feel pretty good about my lil 250QR whoopin up on piped/jetted YFZs that my buddies ride. Especially since they were at my rear tires. +k2
-
My bro's KFX was stock, but I don't remember what pipe my buddy's YFZ has on it. Pretty sure it's not a CT. We raced in a hay field, so paddles and suspension weren't an issue.
-
Here's a video of my YFZ racing the DS.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jk6wh0JO6o
-
-The DS 650 has the following mods-Ported intake manifold,High compression piston(12.5-1), Ron Woods intake, HSR 45 carb, dropped one tooth in front sprocket, full big gun exhaust, and dynatek CDI programable.
-Renegade 1000 has the following mods- HMF full exaust, programmer, and a sand racing clutch.
The two bikes were dead even! My YFZ took them both.
-
Idk what's wrong with the LTR's you guys are racing, but my 07' easily walks my buddy's piped and jetted YFZ and my bro's KFX. All I've done is remove the airbox lid and pea-shooter, and add a bomb. I'm running 20" rears with the stock gearing too, so I imagine I'd beat em even worse if I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket.
The pipe makes a huge difference! and if you're jetted correctly! but yeah just this last oct. I raced a brand new LTR with a yoshi pipe and pulled 3 bikes by the end of comp hill. I also raced a 09 YFZR and beat him worse than the LTR. At Glamis this last weekend I walked away from 2 450r's and a modded DS650(happened to be my brother) But maybe they didnt have their bikes dialed in very well such as paddles and suspension. The CT sonic pipe for the yfz is CRAZY the power over the GYTR is rediculous!
-
I got the cherry bomb & yoshimura rs-5? & air filter & race gas. That thing goes pretty good. But when it just running premium I can tell

Let's Race!!
+k2
-
I forsee a YFZ vs LTR match coming up real soon.
-
Im with Nassty, I know a piped and jetted YFZ (not a R) will outrun a LTR with the bomb and pipe.
Happens every year since 2005 when I go to the dunes!!

your yfz IMO is almost stock and if it still beat the renegade, then it didnt do so well. an ltr450, with a pipe and cherry bomb plug will easily beat a yfz with those mods listed, ive owned both at the same time so im not just talking out of my (pg)
im just glad to hear that the renegade didnt smoke you!
-
Score another one for the zilla.
Yes. Post the video of the 450kids and renegade
Alright I'll post it up on here once I upload the vids

-
I'm pretty sure I have a video of the 450 beating the renegade...if you guys want to see it???
-
Hahaha thanks guys! and yeah my zilla is an 87 bored to 541 so yeah gaskets dont last too long for me lmao I'm going to get it o-ringed really soon
-
Oring the head and be done with problems.
-
Man I knew you would beat that can am. Deck your head and cylinder surfaces and get out there and spray that overweight 4x wit some sand!
-
Happy to hear you beat the 4 poke. :D
-
What year is your Zilla.87 or 88 and up?I only ask cause you said yur head gasket went again and as I,m sure you know the 87,s are prone to it.
-
Alright, I raced the Renegade and beat it! but I didnt get a video and the reason why is because we(my uncle and I) had agreed to just go out on a fun ride....so i figured, what would be the point in bringing the camera??? so I didnt, well during our ride somehow we ended up out at China Wall hahahah he lined up with me and we went! Not gonna lie the Renegade is fast off of the line and pretty decent through the whoops! but I pulled him easily up the Hill wasnt even really that close of a race :/ It's still a pretty fast bike It will beat a stock zilla and piped as well as the stock 450's. But at the end of our ride when we raced up Olds I blew my head gasket again :'( and he technically won haha but my Zilla is the faster bike! so the next day I had no choice but to race him with my modded YFZ and suprisingly my YFZ took him as well but it was a much closer race. The YFZ has CT racing's sonic pipe with 16 disc, fuel customs intake, NVCQ needle, and the cam mod. The pipe made the biggest difference! used to run the GYTR but that pipe is crap compared to CT's no other bolt on 450 has beat mine :)
-
I actually like the thing although it is 686 pounds dry on the dyno i watched on the tube they were comparing a exhaust. Stock 62.29HP 44.77TQ so a pretty healthy V twin. The rev limiter kicked in when the speed got to 90mph I dont know if this is a safety feature on that thing or what they didn't explain it to much. It does have a big powertrain though so it probably loses a lot more then the zilla and weighs 200 pounds more. Cant wait to watch the video.
-
Nasty Zilla--Have you been working out getting ready for the big race :) Just wondering if I was still on for this weekend?
-
Sorry man, wasn,t sure on the date being up here in Canada +k2
No need to be sorry man! hahaha I'll be sure to post the results! sorry about the wait! :)
-

Pesident's day weekend!!
-
Results??? [|]
-
Hahahaha seriously! what do those thing weigh? like 700lbs lmao
-
I just went to youtube because i wasnt familiar with these renegades. Those things are fast as **** man especially for how heavy duty the thing looks. The tires are huge and it still pulls hard those things are crazy, but after a full day of riding trying to pick that sucker up if you roll it might not be so fun.
-
lmao yah everyone says skip over the whoops till the spacing between them changes, you dive into the next one and launch out like rocket man on a crash landing dive, whoops in the desert never stay consistent -_-
ive had many a bad day trying to haul ass across whoops lol
Spoken like a desert racer!

just hold it pinned, put your weight over the rear tires and skip right across the woops.
the faster you go the easier they are.
you make is sound so easy! ;D
brian take note -->
Pete, shut up ::)

Alright so my Uncle has given me a date! He plans on meeting me in Glamis on President's Day weekend! The race is up Oldsmobile which should be good for me cause I have a feeling I'm gonna have to run him down. I'm a little concerned about the whoops now cause this past weekend I was at Glamis and they were rough!!!
-
Just for grinns, I want to see a renegade 1000 run at the Pipe shoot out challange that Kennerz threw out. The renegade is a HEAVY BEAST but they are fast. Id be curious how they compare?
-
Not sure if he has a helmet cam but I will! I also plan to have someone record it from the bottom of the hill :)
-
Hope you both have helmet cams for this! It'll be fun to watch!
-
Still waiting for him to give me an exact date, my bet is it'll take place not this coming weekend but the following one.
-
so how did the race go
-
Hahaha I've been called a doofus a few times before!!!
-
My money would be on the Zilla. Getting thru the whoops cleanly on that utility 4x4 (what's the weight?) would be a challenge.
They never come close to winning the Baja 1K.
Now reverse that if the Zilla rider is a doofus. _^_
-
a video of that race would be cool to see
-
so did you get smoked nassty? -->
-
the back is locked and the front has a auto locking.
-
I'm not sure if they do or not.
-
Do they have locking diffs?
-
With 82hp & a top speed of approx 80mph, they run pretty good.
Also with 4 wheel drive, traction is not an issue.
-
Hahahahaha great point sx4!!!
-
Well whatever happens, you have an extra $10k more in your pocket than he does!
-
I'll forsure get a video! it'll probably be happening in a week or 2 just waiting on him to pick a date.
-
Get a video of this race! 2c
-
He isnt a bad rider but he is kind of old hahaha I'm hoping he's not gonna want to hit the whoops hard. For my gearing I'm running the stock sprockets with 20" 8 paddle extremes. If I go up a tooth on the front sprocket do you think my gearing should be good?
-
unless he's he's a horrible rider, my money is on the renegade.
-
He has the top of the line model with the fox shocks :/ he also put in a more aggresive clutch with a pipe and performance chip lmao I'm running a fully built motor done by CT with a little more done than just the performance package they offer, went with skat trak haulers for the paddles, and I'm not running the fmf I'll have CT's outlaw pipe. And yes I've been told I could get more power if i went with a different builder hahaha
-
what model , doesnt the x model have fox shocks all around? suppose to do well in the whoops. they do make over 60whp in stock form and have power to easily pull wheelies from a roll so i wouldnt take it lightly. ive seen the older 800s race and they werent easily beat racing up buttercup even without paddles. the new 1000 is a beast compared to the 800 but as long as you dont have sand star paddle and or an FMF pipe you should be good to go on a drag race
-
In the whoops that renegade will swap ends!
-
Hahaha I would have to say I'm the better rider :) I'm not afraid to hit the whoops hard lol
-
4wd, over 80hp, heavy...but watch out!
-
i have not raced one but i was riding wth a guy that had one and they are fast. i was not on my zilla but my 250 with clean up porting and fmf could not touch him.
-
Your uncle lets you talk smack? :)) Those Renegades are around mid 80 hp. Who is the better rider? S~
-
My uncle has a renegade and I've been talking smack about how I'm going to beat him on my zilla. I'm supposedly making 70hp. The race will be up Olds hill.
