hey if it was too lean you would put it in the second clip and too rich 4th clip

In my experience after putting aftermarket reeds on, like the dual layer cf/acrylic it seemed to make my 250R run rich. If you have the airbox lid off and aftermarket exhaust I'd start off with the air screw 1.5 turns out, 30 pilot, needle on 3rd clip and a 250 main jet.

Not sure what kind of carb you are running or what elevation you are at. I'd try and jet it on a 65 degree day, this way if you are riding in the upper 40's or lower 80's you should be good for temp fluctuations.

If it's too rich down low, put the air screw 1.75 turn out. If it's too rich in the middle put the needle on the 2nd clip. If it's too rich up top drop to a 240, 230 or even a 220 main.

If it's too lean down low, put the air screw 1.25 turns out. If it's too lean in the middle put the needle on the 4th clip. If it's too lean up top go up to a 260, 270 or 280 main.

I always ran AmSoil full synthetic 2 stroke oil at a 35:1 ratio.

Tudors and Hall still make the v2s for 87's. I made a few sets too. They just use cages off snomos, watercraft and some dirtbikes and quads. All you need is the plate to mount the cage to.

v2's are hard to find, they dont make them anymore. just go with the 3's or i think they have the 4's out now.
you cant go wrong with v force reeds

Thanks I know it was smoking because of the rebuild from coating the piston and cylinder but I've been through about 3 or 4 tanks and its not as bad but still seems like more than it should

From the vid I saw on FB. seemed to run pretty rich, Check your clutch side seal. you might be picking up some tranny oil. If your NOT running Castor in your pre-mix, you can drop some 927 in your transmission and run it for a bit to see if you can smell any castor coming from the pipe.  I had a clutch seal push out on my 92 and it smoked like crazy and ran like a turd. My 2 cents
